Yep. This would be brilliant alright. The club needs Gary Mac. I watched Steven Gerrard a year in my life during the week and it was interesting to see that he was in Stevie's hotel room before the awards helping out. I'm not too sure if he was one of Stevie's invites but it was good to see him around.

I would love to see Gary Mac back at the club, but Academy Director is a massive job and one which we need the right man in. In all honesty I would rather see Gary Mac return as a coach where he can learn from Rafa and Pako.

As good as it'd be to have Gary Mac back at the club I think I'd prefer somebody with a track record of bringing through young players.

Is right. Don't want sentiments to get in the way. Would be stupid not to employ that Ex-Soton chap (if he wants the job) wouldn't it? Some very good players have come through Soton's academy in recent years.

It might end up being Elias alright, he wasn't in charge of Southampton's youth set up though Steve Wigley and later a French guy whose name I can't remember were. Elias was head of recruitment for the academy, the same role he has with us now.

Why would Rafa have sentimental feelings towards Gary Mac.?

Echo last week suggested Elias wasn't interested and was happy where he was.

Like others I'd prefer to see someone with a good eye for spotting young players combined with a skill for coaching. Alex Miller could do the job but it'd depend on how vital Rafa see's him with the first team.

There's been talk of Miller taking it and Gary Mac taking his job with the first team

Hope that is true, think Gary Mac would make an excellent coach.

Makes far more sense that way around, Miller has the Coaching and Scouting talent but would also be a good compromise as Academy boss between Rafa and Heighways coaches.
