I always think the easiest job in Britain must belong to the steward of our staircase in the Lower Cent. Literally nothing ever happens in there and has continued not happening in the decade I've sat there....until last night! It was so unusual, everyone in our section stopped watching the game to gawp at the head steward who strode confidently up the steps, watched by no fewer than two of Merseyside's finest just in case terrorists were involved I imagine, and went along the row about two behind us. There was silence (again, not unusual in our stand but this action was outside of anyone's experiences) while the operation was carried out. What heinous crime was being committed? What evil b*****d had we inadvertently let into our midst? Was it Osama Bin Laden captured at last? No, it was a mild-mannered guy in his early 60s sat with his wife. His crime? He had an unopened can of Coca Cola in his hand! A can of Coke, I ask you!

When we get cup tickets, we always go on the Kop and I cannot tolerate anyone smoking near me but it happens all the time and no steward ever gets involved so why the security operation to render the area safe of offensive coke cans? Anyone? It's pure mad, that's what it is!

Prolly cause a cigarette thrown at a players head would cause far less damage than an unopened can of Coke?

My shoe would cause more damage than both of them 2 but i don't remove them when i go in.

Paul are you kop end row 24 ish?

Lad about 60ish got a can (remember unopened can be thrown) taken off him, but not with his wife, he sits on his own there and has done for years.

A perrenial early leaver as well, he's missed many a winner.

Yep, always a pain getting out of lower centenary, always has been. Got out far quicker last night and getting onto Walton Breck Road was the easiest it has been for ages.

I'm on row 23 at the Kop end, so yes. He was sat next to a woman of about the same age so I took her to be his wife.

There were a lot early leavers from all over the shop yesterday - I thought there was some sort of Kemlyn reunion going on.

Cans of any kind are not allowed inside the stadium.

Seat 220 on row 26.

Too close to Snorky and the control box.

You love it

and when I'm lower Cent, which is often these days, I'm in row 20 or 25 and seats 201 to 204

must say, although I have ST in the Premier Club, Upper Cent, which is comfier and has the use of your own lounge, I much prefer my Lower Cent spec, for the atmosphere. So much closer to the Kop

Also I can see Wayne closer from here, and can tell if he's misbehaving; not singing, shouting 'whoarya' or whatever

in fact will begin compiling regular reports- 'Wayne Watch'

Why not? You'd have to be Steve Backley with some form of millitary catapult to launch a can from where we sit to hit the away fans. I suspect it's more to do with protecting the profits of the catering company than the away fans and players on the pitch. But I could be wrong. I usually am.

In Croke Park here in Dublin, the shops in the ground are required to remove the top off any plastic drink bottles as they hand them to you, so that full (or half full) bottles cannot be thrown.

Because Gillett and Hicks are about to launch Kop Cola, and they don't want the competition.

It's against ground relugations, it's not just Anfield, many if not all Premier/Football grounds have the same ruling.
