again, yet another superb performance...

the way he holds the ball up and brings others into play is superb, his touch and balance is unbelievable for a such a tall guy.

 

I stand by what i said when we signed him, he is the english ibrahimovich...excellent on the floor, brilliant technique but horrible in the air for a man of his height.

 

 

Is there anyone out there still to be convinced by him?

that pull down and shot in the 2nd half was henry-esque....amazing technique..

 

Think he has been a stunning buy for us...and shows noticeable improvement with every passing game ( a factor in his whole career).....who knows how good he could be in a couple of seasons...

Partly yes, plus a number of other things like actual physical strength. I know Essien possibly fouled him, but he should have been stronger.

I agree, it is really amazing how much he's improved. Before he signed you could see he was a good player, but now he has really taken it to another level. The first time I saw him play he just looked like he had no qualities other than being tall, that was a long time ago, though.

Chelsea were completely scared of him in the first half which meant he could win the ball un contested on a few occasions (1st goal to an extent).

 

I still think we can get more out of him if we didn't resort to long balls too early. I remember at Charlton away last year, all he (and morientes) had was long ball after long ball. He's useless like that but he's a good player when we get the ball on the floor and start passing it around at a high tempo and allow him to link the midfield/attack and bring others into play before moving into space.

If young is worth 9 million then Crouch has to be worth 15 million plus. He is the main England striker after all........

To be fair, he wins his fair share of knockdowns and knock ons. It's just when he's got to get them on target that he's utter pish...well he gets them on target alright...

Crouchy gets his fair share of criticism,but henever shirks a challenge and gives 110%, yes he needs to improve his heading,but his touch and ability to bring players in our first rate,newcastle can stick their 12 mill,peter is going nowhere.

The problem isn't with his heading technique, he has scored great headers in the past, it's in the timing of his runs. He often goes too early and so ends up ahead of the ball and has to come away from goal to make contact, it's incredibly hard to generate any power when moving away from goal.

With the two he played against today in the backline, he should have had a hatrick, end of. I was not to impressed by his overall contribution.

 

P.S If you took away the goal from Kuyt, he still would have been better.

The 'physical strength' thing is ironic by the way, but I won't mention why, don't want to upset you again

 

He's a good player, he's done very well for us, I can't understand the logic of a Liverpool fan who hasn't taken to him. I think it's a mental block on their behalf, nothing to do with Crouchie, he could score 20 goals this season and be one of our best players, and it wouldn't change a thing.

 

Not saying he has to be your new favourite player, and I don't mean you have to hail him as a great, cos he isn't, but he does his job very well. He won most over a long time ago. It just seems to be a few numptie kids here that don't like him now, and the reason they don't like him is cos he doesn't fit into their fashionable image of a footballer.

One thing is for sure. He ain't no Toshack in the air. His general allround play is pretty good overall but his lack of aerial ability does show itself when we are pressuring the away goal. As I said yesterday, I thought there was an impressive pickup in attacking ability the last five minutes when Bellamy came on. When Crouch is the striker, everything seems to slow down.
