WTF???

To his millions of fans, Chris de Burgh is the ultimate romantic singer. But to many others he's a figure of fun and now it seems they have one more stick to beat him with: his latest claim that he can heal the sick simply by laying his hands on them.

The singer, who turns 58 on Sunday, made his confession on Gloria Hunniford's Sunday morning BBC TV show Heaven and Earth.

De Burgh told the programme that he'd met a man in the West Indies who was unable to walk and, when he put his hands on him, the man got up. He insisted he didn't want to say more because the tabloids would get excited about it.

Chris de Burgh first talked about his mysterious powers in the early 1990s. And then in 2001, he visited the Liverpool defender Markus Babbel, who was suffering a rare form of paralysis, and passed his hands over the footballer's legs.

Babbel later said that he could move his toes more easily after de Burgh's visit.

His daughter can make men get up just by putting her hands on them too.

How on earth could she be Chris De Burgh's daughter? I think the milkman must have been delivering more than just a pint of skimmed.

Yes, and the milkman must be Brad Pitt as well - she's absolutely beautiful, surely not a creation of CDB's genes.

I posted her Bebo site the other day, for those interested.

As for Crispy Burke, I wouldnt actually dismiss it out of hand. Some people have healing gifts, for certain situations. I have seen it myself.

Yes, but funnily they are always unable to demonstrate these powers under controlled conditions.

Didn't Chris de Burgh claim to have some sort of a magic healing lamp that he used on Babbel?

My brother's wife (a globally renowned genetic scientist, interestingly) can do it. And someone in my parents home place.

I'm not going to argue about it with you, but I have seen it happen. And no, it wasn't a Lazarus 'get up and walk' situation, but a rapid recovery that doctor's can't explain. And no, she (nor the other man) have no magic lamp or anything. And no, they can't cure 'anything'. But I know people grateful for their 'gift'.

Didn't she pull her Bebo site after all that s*** came out about her in the papers?

I'll be weaning myself back on slowly in February. And hopefully this time i'll keep off the alcohol on non match weekdays.

So Saturday 3rd February will mark your return to serious inebriation especially with it being a 12.45 kick off :)

Not to worry. I guess I'll have to content myself with drinking Andy under the table :)
