New York Red Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 I've been wracking by brains thinking about who would be the player we could sign, with our reasonable present finances, who would make the most impact for us. I think it is Ribery. he would really do a job for us for the next 5-6 years. Any thoughts?
Stevie H Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 yes, yes and yes. get him in. he can't fail in the footsteps of cheyrou, diouf, cissé and ferri.
DarthVader Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 He'll be signing for Real Madrid in the summer so we can forget it with or without DIC money.
smokescreen Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 An added bonus being that he is surely from the bloodline of Beardsley.
Magic8Ball Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 have we actually sold Cisse or is he on loan ? The sale of Cisse could cover 1/3 -1/2 of the Ribery fee
surf Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 can we afford £20m on present finances? That's a lot, would he really cost that much?
Kahnee Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 yes, yes and yes. get him in. he can't fail in the footsteps of cheyrou, diouf, cissé and ferri. You forgot Diomede
Sion Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 If we got som DIC money then hell yes, but there are other more pressing areas where we need improvement.
Guest ritchie_50 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 (edited) Go for him and then after losing out to Arsenal, go in for David Prutton instead. Edited January 12, 2007 by ritchie_50
theredfella Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 You forgot Diomede If there's a worse player in the history of the World Cup with a winner's medal, I will be amazed. Absolute sh*te. Saw him in Wades once, he's about five foot f*ck all As for Ribery, cracking player but looks like he's off to Madrid. Definitely have him though.

theredfella Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Gu'iv'ar'ch'? At least he scored a few goals in France. Sh*te for Kenny and the Barcodes but still had a decent reputation.

theredfella Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 He was absolutely rubbish For the Geordies, granted, but I think he had a decent record for Auxerre and Rennes (?) ?
Blade Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Go for him and then after losing out to Arsenal, go in for David Prutton instead. We've missed out on Prutton Beeb
mrjunk Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 can't stand prutton, he just looks like a kiddie fiddler
theredfella Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 We've missed out on Prutton Beeb No great loss IMO, massively overrated.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 yes, yes and yes. get him in. he can't fail in the footsteps of cheyrou, diouf, cissé and ferri. Dammit. Might as well not bother now.
Rimbeux Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 (edited) He's a good player but grossly grossly overpriced. Nowhere near as good as Pires was, and for the money he's being touted for he should be at the very least his equal. This recent Sky hype thing has spread beyond our shores, first sign of talent and agents get busy myth-making. Edited January 12, 2007 by Rimbeux
Guest Anders Honoré Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Imo, he was better than Pires was in France. I am amazed at the leap he made after he went to Arsenal.

That's a key point, there's every chance Ribery could drop his apparant level in tougher company, more chance than kicking on perhaps? Agree on how Pires grew
tomasjj Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 yes, he would be a great buy for us Imo, he was better than Pires was in France. I am amazed at the leap he made after he went to Arsenal.agreepires was jusr decent in franceribery i more suited to the PL, and more direct
