can I just say how f***ing lucky we are to have this guy.

he may not have been at his best this season but he's still a monster of a player and easily one of the best midfielders in the world.

As a player, he's just got it all. strength, pace, skill, vision, and a killer final ball.

The opposition must be s***-scared of playing against him.

The first two posts are right, he is a quality player who we are lucky to have, but he is also lucky that liverpool are a great club and they provide him with the stage to perform. I think the key is that SG remembers that.

There is a tendency (and I'm as guilty of this as any) to focus too much on his weaknesses (e.g. carelessness with possession), whilst other players' shortcomings (Sissoko being a good example) are ignored by comparison.

He's a great player - and luckily for us he's not anywhere near the only one currently residing at LFC towers :)

i saw his goal again v WHU in the cup final on BBC sports personality thingy

pure genius

not many players in world football could hit a ball in those circumstances, with his tiredness, in such a crucial game, so very sweetly

perfect technique

It's one of those goals that will be remembered forever. Last minute, legs about to give way and then he just launches it. The scary thing is how often he seems to score from distance.

Enjoy him

He's probably in his peak years now.

It will be interesting to see how he much he is able to adapt his game when he gets closer to 30 and starts to lose the outstanding athleticism he has now.

Once he loses his pace i fully expect him to revert to being a tackling machine in a holding role.

That assumes he is able to kick his habit of trying to hit the defence-splitting pass every time.
