Are the recent comparisons between Rafa now

The reason I ask this is because way before Ged's last season I wanted him out. However there's no way I want Rafa out, but I do believe the way we are playing is very similar, too similar in fact.

I suppose I just can't get my head around wanting one manager out and one to stay when the football produced on the park is so much alike, I'm confused

i guess it comes down to your belief in the manager's ability to turn it around.

Lost belief in GH's ability, haven't in Rafa's.

Wait till we have a full-strength side out and see if the football is the same, sure. The ethos isn't, I don't think.

Circumstances and form are dictating that we play schidt at the moment.

I like that response, it's made me feel a bit better about myself now.

Very unfair

Things are a bit duff at present but a manager with the vision and expertise and the class of Rafa WILL turn this about

Next year we'll be laughing at how bad we are this year in the league.

Rafa's post match comments are still interesting and worth listening to, although probably for the first time ever, he was drawn on the referee in last night's post match interview - hope that's not a sign of things to come.

I gave up listening to Ged for the last year or so of his reign because he had stopped talking sense.

totally right

GH got really cringeworthy

I think Rafa needs to seriously consider what he is asking his players to do and make the appropriate changes or he and they will get very frustrated. We don't seem to have any plan B or plan C. We keep playing the same plodding style in hope we snatch a goal even at home.

1. Be more adventurous at home (3 attackers and get the FB's forward more)

2. Let Gerrard play the same role as Rooney does for Utd (at home) don't require him to be all over the pitch

3. Stop the forwards from dropping too deep

4. Make the wide men stay on the wings and go at people. DO NOT Let them drift inside

5. Stop wasting corners and Free Kicks (change what hasn't been working for ages)

We are far too cautious and one paced. Teams can read us far too easily.

No comparison.

GH came back after a life saving operation when it would have been better off both for himself and the club if he had resigned after the event.

And yet compare Lyon with ourselves at present. What a crazy world we live in.

Hardly a comparison you can make, GH walked into a side that were already Champions there.

I'd fancy our chances against Lyon in the Champions League as well.

He's clearly a brilliant manager and the best we could have as our manager.

But, I wish he'd be a bit more aggressive in our league games. Too often we look nice and tidy, organised but ultimately static.

You've got Crouch AND Kuyt coming deep to get the ball and then turning to face an entire defence. Alonso has been far deeper this season and we know Momo isn't the one to play a through ball or make a run beyond the defence. So that leaves us with absolutely f*** all attacking threat down the middle.

Pennant was mismanaged too. He was told to keep cutting inside when we all know his strengths are getting down the wing and getting crosses in. His confidence is shot to pieces now.

They are a powerfull side and this despite GH having to replace top players the last couple of seasons. I wouldnt fancy our chances on current form

We just don't have any flair in the team at the moment to produce a little bit of magic to produce goals against teams like Portsmouth with 11 man defences. Sure we have Garcia and Pennant but they are not delivering the goods. Just shows how thin the squad is of quality players.

To be fair even at home we have not looked quality most of the time. It could be a confidence thing, but at least we are keeping clean sheets! And even playing such crap football we are still only a few points of 3rd place.

Is the upshot of 1, 2 and 3 that we play 4 upfront at home?

This post is bizarre frankly as we haven't lost for 25 odd games at home and have won most of them.

The away form is the issue, frustrating draw last night notwithstanding

The players are at fault, not Rafa.

1 & 2 - So we're playing three attackers but Gerrard is playing just off one of them? So four attackers then? And since when has Gerrard has the guile to play as a Liverpool number seven? When has that worked?

3 - There's four of them on the pitch including Gerrard now. So how are they going to get the ball wthout dropping in?

4 - We've haven't got a fit orthodox wide left. We miss Kewell immensely. Plus we're playing three attackers. So how can we have three attackers, Gerrard off the front and two wide men?

5 - Couldn't agree more.

Nothing to do with Houllier. Lyon were the top French side before he went there

bit harsh that.

they were the top side but he's had to sell some good players too.
