We've been crying out for a good winger for years

Pity the two Rafa has signed are winging it.

Gonzalez and Pennant should not be in the reserves let alon ethe first team.

f***ing awful, they can't cross or beat a man. Be better bringing back John Barnes.

i said it in the summer and was told i was stupid, we should have broken the bamk for a winger, and that one was Joaquin, wingers are to generally do things great, and 1 thing every now and then

the 2 great things are beat players, joaquin does that with ease, and cross the ball, again, joaquin does that with ease, the other thing is score the odd goal, thats f***ing it, you dont need a winger thast tracks back and defends, clears balls off the line, none of that, its his job to beat people and whip the f***ing ball in, something NONE of our lads can do

seeing as we`re never gonna spend big on a winger, id go with Hamill and anderson, the season is long gone now, we may as well do somethign useful by blooding these young lads

I've just laid into Gonzo on the post match thread, but I think he is the better out of the two and has the potential to improve. He's only a young kid himself, in fairness.

Pennant - I've neve rated and just don't think he has what it takes.

I'd certainly start introducing the likes of Hammill and Anderson, maybe in the PSV and Carling Cup games, as we don't want to go into next season needing to buy another pair of wingers.

They're boys. Playing them before they're ready could ruin 'em.

Nah. They're tough young lads. They'll love it.

yet of what I've seen of Valencia so far, he hasn't exactly being doing much either of great quality (now I've mockered him into a good game tonight  ).

Not saying he'd be any worse than what we have, but he wouldn't have been my choice of 'breaking the bank' type player put it that way!

Pennant and Gonzalez are a footballing example of the Chuckle Brothers.

I agree about Gonzales and Pennant. Just dreadful.

No pace (in Pennant's case), no skill or trickery, poor crossing.

Just nowhere near good enough for us.

Pennant is a lazy, moaning wee prick as well, which grates.

We pretty much wasted every last set piece.

To concur with a previous poster - i'm off to get plastered!

I honestly thought Pennant would improve us..even though he was grossly overpriced. But the lad does'nt seem to give a toss whether he plays for LFC or not! He's just going through the motions imho..if he was a real emplyoee ina real business,he'd get the boot within a month!

I still think Gonzalez will come good, he at least gets himself involved in the game and unlike Pennant has the genuine excuse of getting used to a different style of football.

I agree. Pennant just doesn't want to know. Gonzalez is still trying to figure it out. It's a key difference.

While Momo is out I'd like Pennant and Gonzales to both play all of the games. We must find out if they are going to make the grade, and a good run of games will sort the matter out.

Early signs have not been very encouraging for either playr, but I'd like to see them both get a good ten games on the spin to see what they can do.

If they don't improve in leaps and bounds then Kewell (!) will once again be in favour, if he can eventually get fit. I would have thought we'd need Alves too.

I was a bit deflated when we got him, but i too thought he'd at least give us a good option on the right and would improve the delivery.

As you say, his lack of effort is a disgrace. Bottles out of everything and has such a moany face!

Not good enough.

While i think Bellamy will be given more time, i think JP could well be gone by the summer - or at least a new RW brought in and pennant will become a squad player.

Two wingers tonight were embarrassing.

Pennant is playing like a f***ing pussy. Too scared to go for a 50-50. Not really knowing what to do with the ball. One decent cross today. I thought he had a good chance to shoot today when he laid it back for Xabi too.

Speedy was dreadful. His crossing in the second half was abysmal. Unbelievable.

Set pieces were a waste of time. We have been doing better with corners recently but we might as well have just put it out of play for a goal kick for all the good they did today. No wonder Carra was pissed off with the f***ing about.

didnt anyone watch the game today...

i thought Gonzalez had a decent game....was inconsistent on the crossing, but that will come...at least he showed some energy and willingness to beat players.....also felt he was better when on the right.

I'm with ye, this guy needs time and games. That said his delivery was f***ing shocking. The critiscism is lingering from his previous games.

I said it before that we are going to be waiting a few months until he will come into form and when the weather warms he'll be flying.

Giving them a chance will make'em or break'em and its about f***ing time to find out!

We can give Gonzalez the benefit of the doubt, giving him time to get used to the pace of the game, new country etc but Pennant??? I was worried when we signed him, especially the size of the fee, but give the manager his due he must have seen something that I hadn't.

However, he has shown nothing to prove my first instinct wrong, at one point tonight he broke through a tackle ran towards the centre halves and had a touch that can only be described as "a joke" about 20 yards in front of him and almost to the feet of Woodgate.

He isn't a Liverpool type player and never will be as long as I've got a hole in my a***.

As for the team, chuck one of the kids in, after all they can't do any worse can they??

Disappointed, again :(

They have been bought to beat a player and put in crosses, they are both doing neither, two passengers, two lightweight passengers at that.

Pennant is a poor man's Richardson, and he's fecking gash as well.
