Why are have we not won an away game and we're in November ?

 

Why is Steven Gerrard playing right-wing with Sissoko injured ?

 

Not looking good at all is it, something needs to change and pretty quickly.

in my opinion pennant, crouch and bellamy are mid table players and were only bought because of their prem experience for away games.

 

i personally think we should have bought alves with the pennant and bellamy monies, crouch though has been useful.

I guess it comes down to the fact that "a team's only as good as its players" or something like that. We deserve our league postition, we've been so s**** in the league this season and I think it comes down to the fact that Benitez didnt buy real quality in the summer, apart from Kuyt perhaps. We've got too many average players that get too many games, saying that though, it wouldnt suprise me if we wone another cup competition. After all, we are just a cup team.

The difference between the speed of the 2 teams today was visable for all to see, they were playing lovely little triangles with 2 of our players in the middle getting dizzy, we slowed it down by playing little triangles between Sami, Xabi and Riise with no bloody Arsenal player within 30 yards!

But we haven't taken a single point from any of those games. Can we now expect to go unbeaten for the rest of the season away from home ?

 

I don't think so - we just cannot play away from home at the moment. Very worrying indeed....

I think (well, I'm just guessing really) his point is that apart from a few points, we're not doing that much worse than we were last year. 3rd is well within our grasp this year based on the optimistic assumption that we won't struggle in the 'easier' away games.

 

I'm not saying that's a good position to be in mind you because the aim of every season must be progress

Of course our away record this year has been appalling. Added to that, and perhaps worse, is our 3 year record against Chelsea, ManU & Arsenal in the League. At a time when we thought we were as close as ever to these 3, we have been put firmly back in our box in each of the 3 league games against them.

We played much better away to Chelsea, ManU and Arsenal last year and could count ourselves unlucky to lose all 3 (especially Chelsea & ManU). This year we were completely outplayed by them.

Thats b******s bar the Man Utd one, away to Chelsea last season we lost 2-0 and never really got going although we had a few half chances, this season we were the better team in the first half, having chances where Kuyt hit the bar and Gerrard should of done a simple pass across goal, we then conceded a wonder goal and dominated the whole 2nd half missing sitter after sitter allbeit against 10 for most of it. Arsenal away last season we were battered and they missed a hatful (We sneaked a goal though and were conned by a ref sending off Alonso all because Fabregas asked him to), today we didnt give away that many chances but they were clinical when they got them.

 

No excuses really about any of the 4 defeats to Arsenal and Chelsea but we've put up a better fight especially against Chelsea this season.

 

Bottom line though really is we've still lost all 4 no matter how we played.

4 or 5 nil would have been fair. We were s**** full stop. I gave up on 60 mins and just enjoyed Arsenals play.There a great team to watch. If players like Gerrard can't be arsed why should we the fans. To be honest it was men and boys today. If we get 4th I'll be shocked.

Point taken on last season's Chelsea game. I had the one from 2004/05 in mind (where we lost unluckily 1-0), thinking that was last season's one.

 

I do think that today's performance from when they scored until full time was probably the lowest of any of those games though. I just think most of us knew that once they scored that was it, but the way we fell away particularly in midfield, was alarming.
