Best summer in the transfer market since '87 ?

Remember that summer ? Rushie'd gone, we'd finished 2nd to the Bluesh*te and the squad needed some work. Kenny went out and spent on proven quality in Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge and Houghton. Did the trick and we stormed to the title, playing the best football in our history.

I think, on paper, the signings of Kuyt, Bellamy, Gonzalez, Pennant and Aurelio, matches Dalglish's work that year, and arguably fron a stronger base (in that this team was in the ascendency anyway, whilst the '87 model looked in decline).

Signings not finished yet either ;)

We're alves on the lookout for good players for the right price, I am sure.

Dargnabbit, you beat me to the punch.

Still at least Elisha's intervention should make my very mediocre thread proposition into a chart topper.

I would not be stunned if we signed cover for Finnan (assuming Kromkamp's departure) nor the Bascombe mooted 3rd choice 'keeper.

Can't see us buying anymore 'key' players.

Forget about Alves, I have a good idea who it is but I really cant say. He will strengthen us though. If we get rid of Kromkamp and get this fella, our squad will be strong everywhere.

like it isnt already!!!!

my god, what a season we have ahead of us. :)

Time to overstudy every bloody word you say, as is inevitable with everything that you do say on here

Reading from that, this bloke has to be a right back

think we might be a bit ahead of ourselves on this one. its easy to say that 87 group was one of the best since we've got hindsight to lean on.

all the players in this summers group are largely unproven either with a top tier team or in a top tier league.

i'd say bellamy has already proven his worth, but the others i'd take a wait and see approach. i vaguely remember how much i liked josemi when he made his preseason debut for us in the states.. ;)

Although he was clearly working from a much weaker base, I think Ged's first summer of transfer activity shouldn't be discounted in terms of its impact.

Hyppia, Henchoz and Hamann were terrific signings that really turned us around as a side. Camara was a useful player to have around in the short term with Owen and Fowler's injury problems. Smicer had his moments too, although I'm not sure the same can be said of Westerveld and Meijer.

I just get overcome with an emotion when I try to say it. He is a bit of a c**k.

Is this a sort of riddle?

Here's a list of emotions off Wikipedia.

Isn't Angst a German full-back?
