Guz Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Looks like he's taken Rafa's advice and decided to play Stevie on the right side tommorow.
charlie clown Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 its to give him more opportunities to give the ugly sister mk1 a bow-locking for getting caught out of position. something we'd all like to see more of.
Leo No.8 Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 If McClaren manages to find his way to the dugout I'd venture to say he's smarter than I first thought...
Gilps Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Not a bad move at all. But if you're going to start Gerrard on the right then I'm not sure why you need both Lennon and Wright-Phillips in the squad.
Puskas Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 If McClaren was really smart he'd play Gerrard in central midfield and put Lampard where he belongs... on the bench.
Woodsyla Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Looks like he's taken Rafa's advice and decided to play Stevie on the right side tommorow. Wasn't that obvious when he dropped Beckham from the setup. Steven Gerrard at RM is the death knell for Beckham's England career.
sean Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Tony Cascarino, who has a bit of insider knowledge, reckons frank might be in for a shock. It came to a choice between Gerrard and frank. And frank lost, allegedly.
Gomez Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 If McClaren was really smart he'd play Gerrard in central midfield and put Lampard where he belongs... on the bench. Fazackerly. When we play Gerrard on the right, it's because we have Xabi and Sissoko in the middle. England don't have anywhere near that class are are stupid if they don't build a team around Gerrard in the centre.
Cobs Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 does make you wonder WTF McClaren was saying to Sven in Germany
Gilps Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 (edited) does make you wonder WTF McClaren was saying to Sven in Germany Either he was saying nothing at all, or what he was saying was completely ignored. Neither suggests he's going to be bringing a great deal of natural authority to the job. Edited August 15, 2006 by Gilps

Gilps Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 must have been playing noughts and crosses on his notepaper throughout each game Just as well he hasn't appointed an assistant who might overshadow him.
Cobs Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Just as well he hasn't appointed an assistant who might overshadow him.innit.

England don't have anywhere near that class are are stupid if they don't build a team around Gerrard in the centre.England could play Hargreaves/Carrick in centre mid, which is almost as good as Sissoko/Alonso... It'll be interesting to see how many times Lampard actually passes the ball the Gerrard. He didn't do it very much during the world cup, and noticably less often than the other way round.
lawrie Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Wasn't that obvious when he dropped Beckham from the setup. Steven Gerrard at RM is the death knell for Beckham's England career. It most certainly was
Leo No.8 Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 must have been playing noughts and crosses on his notepaper throughout each game I would imagine he spent any spare time attempting to brush those sparse, randomly placed tufts of ginger hair into position so he looks ten years younger. Wierdest - head - ever.

Gilps Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Wierdest - head - ever. In a football world that still contains Bruce, Reid and Silvestre that is a big call.
Stevie H Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 In a football world that still contains Bruce, Reid and Silvestre that is a big call.allardyce, royle, dowie. . .
floyd Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 England could play Hargreaves/Carrick in centre mid, which is almost as good as Sissoko/Alonso... Thats not even as good as Zenden and Reina
