Ain't it about time we started calling the reserves 'Liverpool B' :P

ere

Five of Liverpool's FA Youth Cup winning heroes of last season have been rewarded by making the move to Melwood full-time to train with Gary Ablett's reserve team squad.

Making the short trip from Kirkby to West Derby are 17-year-old starlets goalkeeper David Roberts, striker Craig Lindfield, left back Robbie Threlfall, right back Stephen Darby and central midfielder Ryan Flynn.

All five players played starring roles in the FA Youth Cup success of last season and they have now earned the honour of training full-time at Melwood.

I would say Lindfield has the most promise, but I highly doubt any of them will make it to the first team squad regularly.

And 4 of the 5 are local lads, brilliant.

There is NO way you can say if any of them will make it or not, they are all youth players still, 17 or just 18. Who knows what training with the big boys will do for them.

Stephen Darby impressed me whenever i saw him last season.

Great news for all these young lads.

Wonder what this will mean for the academy site next year, 5 of their best players have been promoted, wonder if we've brought any new lads in from outside.

The lad who impressed me most was Charlie Barnett - is he younger than the rest? If not, I'm surprised he isn't moving up to the ressies.

We have some seriously good kids on our books. Some of them will make it no question.

I was going to ask where Barnett was when I read the list.

He looked one of the best to me, a good passer of the ball with quality from set-pieces.
