Being at the gane I didn't see the beeb's live coverage.

A mate was telling me that Ian Wright was giving some hints about SWP's future.

Did anyone see it?

Same problem as you mate, though there is a thread in the football genny somewhere saying he was dropping anfield type hints for SWP.

Yeah, it wasn't actually him as such - before the game they were talking about Gerrard and Hansen made a remark along the lines of "he's the type of player you'd like your son to play alongside, eh Ian". There was another remark of this kind after the match, something about if we got a few good players in etc.

I heard that Lineker was pushing him about Shaun - I hear Liverpool are interested, have you anything to say? and Wright was laughing and saying thet ha couldn't comment but oviously he wouldn't be at Chelsea next season. My mate who told me said they were both hinting very very strongly that SWP would join us in the summer.

He never said SWP wouldn't be at Chelsea.

Ian Wright said (along the lines of) "Obviously it's difficult for the lad.. he's not getting the games he was promised, so he's missing out, plus there's the World Cup..but we'll see"

Lineker & Hansen also mentioned that Liverpool are looking to strengthen the midfield, and surely Gerrard's the type of player that any winger would like to play alongside.. it was all very tongue in cheek and even Wright was laughing.

Downside to that would be Ian Wright would be at the Liverpool games.

I'm told (not a very good source I'm afraid) is that Manchester City and Chelsea are in negotiations to bring SWP back to Eastlands and Chelsea would pick up Mickel Richards and one other youth player in return. Not sure whether any money would change hands.

Micah Richards looks a good player.

well, that's what the Mirror said late last week anyway..

it's apparently noted that SWP wants to leave Chelsea and if all reports are believed then that's from both sides and not just him.. whether or not he'd bite the bullet and say "no, i wanna go to Liverpool" when Chelsea tell him he can leave but only to certain clubs is another matter.. if they say "you'll spend your contract in the reserves rather than us sell you to Liverpool" would he be willing to hold his nerve??

Lot of assumptions made there...

Chelsea don't think SWP is 1st team material, so why would they be so reluctant for him join us?

For all Chelsea know, the alternatives Rafa is looking at for right mid could be better than SWP (all a matter of opinion of course).

Probably Daniel Sturridge, they've been chasing him for years. Hope it's not true, both of them could go on to be as good as SWP.

So basically both could go on to be not good enough for Chelsea?

I saw him wink at Lawrenson and mouth the words "he's signing for the Redmen"

Hope he does sign, and furthermore that encourages his Dad to stop advertising the scumbag rag on TV commercials....

i was basically going by the story in the Mirror.. i'm not exactly making the assumptions myself!

the story was Mourinho didn't think he would be able to break through at Chelsea and would let him go back to City but he'd want to take Richards and Sturridge to help smooth the deal along.. i'm going off memory (which is a little hazy and i cant find it online either) but it was either in this article or elsewhere it also mentioned they'd be reluctant to sell to a rival..

my point is not to make assumption - my point (well question to ponder) is asking whether the boy would have the bottle to hold tight and wait for a move here or just go back to City..
