Fantastic move this. 4 superb centre mids allows us to take it easy with Lucas as he gets back to 100%, and avoid over playing Stevie too. Henderson and Shelvey can continue to develop by playing with these great passers every day in training, and getting games with them now and again. No more need to rely on Spearing, and we can either sell Adam or keep him as back up if BR decides to send Shelvey on loan. At least one forward, at least 2 if Caroll goes, and things are looking a hell of a lot rosier than the start of this window. Good advert for transfer window patience too.

I think there's more than a hint of this, perhaps they put something in the agreement that they knew Arsenal, or at least Arsene, would never agree to. Wouldn't put that sort of thing past Mourinho, and don't think you can underestimate the fact he probably views himself as some sort of mentor to Rodgers.

Yeah, he's quite well suited to it actually if that's how it pans out. His passing isn't quite so essential, if he's out of the middle 3. More of an onus on him to do something, rather than just try and keep the ball moving.

The only thing I've ever heard people say positively about him, is he was part of the board that helped get shut of H&G. I certainly wouldn't call that a defence of his overall f***wittery though, more just a case of adding a small caveat, as I'm sure he wasn't the driving force behind the 'epic swindle'.
