10M guaranteed from the Warrior deal alone. The club expects that to be nearer £35M in reality, and not linked to club performance on the pitch either. Standard Chartered = more than £10m extra per year. With other smaller deals added, then even before the new tv deal kicks in, your talking anywhere from £35M to £50m extra. Massive reduction in wages added in, manager change factored in, savings on interest payments, the club has still saved hugely on costs and increased revenue streams to levels far outstripping Newcastle or Spurs. All these savings were essential, but unless we actually spend a little of that, it will only help FSG, not LFC. Are you saying it's reasonable for FSG to baulk at paying £6m for Dempsey ?

Our income compared to theirs ? Especially the massively increased revenues not yet showing up on any accounts. The biggest issue in the last set of accounts was the stadium money nonsense, and interest payments. With these all but gone, wage bill reduced, income massively increased, the next set of accounts should be a dream for the boardroom boys. That'll show Newcastle and Spurs.

I made it quite clear, my suspicion is that they may be looking to sell. $2.1B for the Dodgers. 3 times what FSG paid for the Redsox, and the Dodgers have been very poorly run the last few years.

In ordinary circumstances I'd be tempted to agree. I just think FSG ar emore hands on than that, way more hands on, at least with overall budget. I'm just sceptical of their motives right now, the timing doesn't seem right to me, a complete unwinding of overspending at both teams. Lots of sense in it yes, but the next steps are vital, and right now I have little faith that they are doing anything other than looking to sell. Quite prepared to be proven wrong, but see no reason whatsoever to have blind faith in them right now.

Who said they were sucking out money ? I'm just saying that they have massively reduced the wage bill, and whilst normally you'd expect them to reinvest more smartly, I'm not completely convinced they will. Infact, there's a good few analysts in MLB who expect they will not invest anything like the same amount in terms of wage bill. Whichever way you look at it, they are trying to spend less money on their teams. In the short term that could well signify an intent to sell. I'm sure the price the Dodgers went for left their jaw's on the floor, about 3 times what they paid for the Redsox.
