I used to hate him when he was playing but he comes across well on The Overlap.

Gerrard was one of the greatest midfielders ever and could play anywhere and be the best player on the pitch. Trent is brilliant and could be a top midfielder but he's not at Gerrard's overall level. Totally different players.

Can't read the article as behind a paywall but surely any legal challenge would fail? The rules are the rules and they have either broken them or they haven't. The PL has a voting system so that the rules are approved by the clubs. How can you mount a legal challenge to something that has been democratically voted for? Plus membership of the PL is optional.

It is a bit weird we've not seen anything released. With him starting on Saturday confirmed with a solitary tweet, it's going to be even more 'meh' when something does come out than it would have been anyway.

If you were him, why wouldn't you go to Madrid? He doesn't support any of the other clubs that would be in for him, he'll win a ton, likely get a Ballon d'Or (or multiple) and as long as he plays the Madrid media game, will be loved. Oh and get paid a ton whilst doing it

I've just watched that too and it's incredible. He's such an inspiring yet humble man. It would have been great for his time to continue but the more of these clips I see, the more I'm glad he's ended it like this. To leave with such warmth, universal love and the fans wanting more; it's exactly what he deserves. Anything less would have been criminal.
