If Carroll has been excluded from the squad tonight it's probably as clear an indication he's going to get that Rodgers doesn't want him about the place. Referring to him as a "third choice striker" is also pretty clear. It's admirable if he wants to stay and try to turn it around, but I just can't see it. You can see what Rodgers is trying to do on the pitch and Walcott would be infinitely more useful to use than Carroll. Not that Walcott is world class, but in terms of what the player can offer here and now, Walcott would be much better for us. He should probably go for the sake of his own career, but I can understand the reluctance if he only has West Ham as an option.
