The centre of the midfield needs addressing. Ferguson's strategy has long been beat the s****, so if you have Rooney, van Persie, Young, Nani and Kagawa knocking about you're going to knock the s*** out of almost every team in the bottom 12 home and away. You won't be too far away.

£24M for someone who has one season of full fitness on his record whilst your midfield is porous seems a bit weird. Probably signing him just to piss off Wenger.

Think we were exposed in the midfield last year when Lucas was injured. Allen and Sahin are good signings to plug this. We still need another player or two for the front line.

I was going with Wayne's chronology which seems to be: Board get offer > Board accept offer > .Board tell manager offer has been accepted > manager talks to player > player says f*** off. I could have misinterpreted Wayne's post though.

If FSG accepted a bid over the manager's head, that's a massive concern and not on. If Rodgers acquiesced after being consulted, but without talking to Agger first, it's a concern. Either way, it's a concern. It just depends what the actual circumstances are. The former scenario and I think legitimate and serious questions need to be asked.

If that's true give him a five year contract immediately and put the thing to bed.
