  1. Don't have a problem with them going. I have a problem with not replacing them properly (yet).
  2. Net spend.
  3. Not if we loan him out though. Sell him? Fine. Loaning him out? Mental.
  4. Sending him on loan at all was absolutely mental. He's not a s*** player, but he's been a s*** signing.
  5. I do have some serious reservations about the direction we're taking, but I don't really want to air them until the end of the window given we could well do any number of things between now and then. My concerns could well be premature, but I just don't really see what the overall plan is at the minute.
  6. I've given up working out what we're at.
  7. We look woeful.
  8. If a club offered £30M for Agger you'd be driving him there yourself. Top player though he is, you're only ever getting two thirds of a league campaign out of him. You could buy three very, very good players for that. Or two Joe Allens...
  9. Get rid of Carroll by all means, but replace him with someone genuinely exciting who could genuinely lead the charge for fourth. Clint Dempsey is not that player and it all seems a bit like a sideways move.
  10. Loaning out Carroll and buying Dempsey to replace him is all a bit mid-table.
  11. f***ing mental deal, this. They'll stay up, given Carroll is liable to score about 20 goals in an Allardyce team, but still.
  12. That much?
  13. I was on the third tier and the seats were absolutely grand. It's a bowl of a stadium. Providing you don't get one of the crap seats on the bottom tier where you might effectively be looking at a pillar, you're flying.
  14. There's no way those wages figures are correct. None.
  15. Sorry, but Spearing is absolutely rubbish. He just is.
  16. We ordered them from a website when we were in Spain and printed them out from a La Caixa machine using the credit card you purchased them with. Can't remember the website now unfortunately. You can also head down to the Barca shop across the square from the top of Las Ramblas and buy them there. You need to buy with a credit card though - they won't accept cash.
  17. He really is rubbish. If he's getting regular time on the pitch next year then something's gone wrong with our dealings.
  18. People are dreaming if they think any sort of gentlemen's agreement would stop Swansea biting our hand off if we offer them £15M for Allen.
  19. Maxi, Kuyt, Cole, Aquilani and Doni, combined, barely featured last year. Granted two weren't at the club, but still. I don't think getting rid of them to save wages on squad players is that big a concern. It's more of a concern if we sign someone from the Championship to replace them, but I assume they've decided that in terms of wages that the ratio between First XI:Squad is too imbalanced towards the latter. As such if we're going to pay big wages they'll want them to be on players who are going to play rather than those who aren't. I really can't see a problem with that, our wages as a percentage of turnover are too high.
  20. New York Red Bulls are closing in on a £1m deal for Tim Cahill after Everton accepted a bid for the Australian forward. From the BBC Ticker.
  21. I can accept Henderson. Something has gone wrong if Adam's still here come September.
  22. I've only read two - Maradona's and Gerrard's. The former was £2 in Bargain Books and I bought the latter solely to read about half time in Istanbul. I should probably just have read it in the shop.
  23. If I start acting like a t***, you'd be entitled to change your opinion.
  24. One must humour such comments because it masks their inability to put forth an actual argument.
  25. I've seen enough to think that loaning him out would be absolutely dense. If we were to get a £25M offer, I'd be taking it. I've seen enough to think that accepting what would be termed a "cut price" deal in the context of the £35M fee would not be sensible. If it is an anti-Rodgers stance, it is only anti-Rodgers to the extent that I think his handling of Carroll has been remarkably poor. From making it very clear that he didn't fancy him, he appears to be ready to move him on without his participating in even one training session. I know "it's only training" and what have you, but it seems an extremely rash decision and one that I am not especially enthused about.
