Having the obligatory post game pint after footy last night, we were talking about stand out performances as one of the lads had just played out of his skin. This then followed on to the performances we'd seen at the game, the ones where there's one man who's been head and shoulders above anyone else on the pitch. Using the criterion of games we'd attended, there were some crackers; the Manc was talking about watching Keane (no band jokes please) in Turin, one of our lot mentioned Fowler against Fulham in the League Cup and so on. So which is the stand out performance for you that you've witnessed? My own choice was Barnes against QPR in '87 - a masterclass of artistry and downright taking the p*ss

I don't really give a f*ck whether this is believed or not but I know that the following is 100% true. We have JM on an eighteen month loan deal. To facilitate that, we now have the registration of the player for which we paid a nominal sum. Should we decide to take him permanently, that nominal sum will be removed from the fee which will cost the club up to £18m. The deal is structured in much the same way as the Rooney deal between Everton and the Mancs ie downpayment followed by bonuses for titles/number of caps etc. If we don't take him up then the agent has first refusal to take the player back. However that will not be an issue, we are, barring a disaster of massive proportions, definitely keeping him.

I drove past his gaff the other night. Well it'd be more accurate to say I drove past his gatehouse, you can't really see it that well from the road. Unbelievable place, though for a £12m house you'd expect it to be. Complete Grade Aer though by all accounts, my auntie used to be his PA.

The only problem is the feeds don't run simultaneously so the commentary doesn't match what's going on on the pitch

A couple of lads in our party are in the same boat and they're going to the airport early doors to start looking. As well as fans selling them, the touts are bound to be out in force. At least if I was selling tickets, it's one place I'd definitely go to for punters.

Just spoke to our trip organiser and they said that all fans are getting dropped off at the ground regardless of what time they arrive on Wednesday but they can go back into town if they like. Apparently it's about four miles away and a piece of p*ss to get to.

Great idea but with one major flaw; there's no policing operation to cover the event. The usual season policing arrangements are sorted out way in advance and can't see the law calling all hands in for one night, it's a massive drain on the resources.
