  1. He's wearing the number 13 training top - and that number isn't issued.
  2. Could you, if you knew 60 people in the ballot with non-sequential randomised fancard numbers and not a single one got a ticket, honestly in your heart of hearts say that there was nothing wrong with the ballot? Surely ALL logic and common sense would scream at an intelligent man like yourself and say "hang on somethings not right here". These sort of ratios are beyond the fantasies of the world's most ardent statistician.
  3. I think you need to dip your toes outside the waters of ynwa - absolutely seething is the attitude of many, many Reds. Not just with the arrogance of Parry et al who still refuse to come out and quantify the ticket distribution system, but also at the ballot results which extremely strong anecdotal evidence suggests smells as fresh as a sumo wrestler's jock strap which had been steeped in anchovies for 3 weeks. If there were 5500 tickets available in the ballot and the ratio of success was roughly 23% (suggesting a total of 24000 eligible with 6 or more credits), why are there so many occurrences of 0 in 40, 1 in 36, 0 in 20 etc. So many large tranches of fan card numbers among groups of fans almost completely unsuccessful. I fully understand the laws of randomness, this does not fit the pattern.
  4. He's been a Liverpool fan since a kid - seen him mention it in a few interviews. Just found this (snipped from a longer Guardian interview): A highlight of Johnson's sporting year was meant to happen last Tuesday at Anfield. As a Liverpool fan, he was "chuffed when I got invited to the Juventus game. But my name had been put down for a charity do in London that same night, which I didn't know about. All last week I'm saying, 'Yeah, I'm going to Liverpool-Juve, Champions League quarter-final...' Then I got this call: 'You still on for Tuesday in London?'" Johnson holds his head in mock despair. "It was a good do for spinal research - so I was never going to blow them out. But I missed Anfield. Martin Corry went in my place with Ben Kay." Corry, the new England captain, clearly owes his Leicester skipper a favour. "I don't think he sees it like that," Johnson sighs. "He taunted me with texts all night. Then Martin recorded the Kop singing You'll Never Walk Alone and left it on my answer-phone for when I got in. It was pretty moving, actually. As a piss-take they also got a few autographs for me. Corry got me David Johnson, who played for Liverpool in the late 1970s. I said, 'Oh mate, that's great. I love that autograph even more than my John Aldridge.'" I laugh at the thought of the mighty Johnno replacing Aldridge at the top of his autograph list. "Yeah," he grins, "David Johnson! He played alongside Dalglish, Souness, McDermott and the rest of that team. I idolised them all. But as you get older, the hero worship disappears." --- saw something after the previous CL semi at Anfield which he did make where he was saying he got very pissed off as everyone assumed he was there to support Chelsea.

    Dudek

It's been copied from The S*n by all the other media outlets so not worth the paper it's written on.
  6. Yes, almost word for word. As they did over a year ago.
  7. I like his Arsenal Review stuff - opinionated, varied and often very perceptive. Much better than the bland s**** you get with most writers.
  8. Not really a wise idea posting the link as oppo fans can then try and hijack it. It's being sent to everyone who has an email address registered with LFC I think.
  9. The current planning permission includes plans for 6 park and rides (Wirral, 2 at the docks, Showcase, Aintree, Edge Lane), a much increased football parking zone, and a train station at the bottom end of Ince Avenue on the Bootle freight line.
  10. He posted about Gillett when it had already been discussed for a couple of weeks in the investment thread and had been in all the newspapers. Within days of his exclusive from "ex-players" that Gillett had bought the club it was announced that DIC was the preferential bidder and had been given sole access to the books.

    Parry:

The plans which were resubmitted in 2006 were the same as those submitted in 2003. The "Kop" hasn't changed one iota and will be the same as the opposite end - a single lift stand separated in two by a gangway.

    Parry:

so it'll be exactly the same as the original plans.

    The RTK

It's a rallying call. We have them before most big European games. It's also a call for a flag day, something which has always been advertised like this. It's a call to get in the ground early and really make this one of the great nights. Is there really anything wrong with that?
  14. It's absolutely pointless.
  15. Another waste of time. They don't award posthumous knighthoods.
  16. info@ap.org is the best address, though AP did correct it yesterday evening fairly promptly. Their feed is syndicated to hundreds of news organisations and though all had the offending paragraph initially, when checking later on almost every one it had been removed.
  17. for some reasons we're often called the Red Devils outside of the UK.
  18. I think the corporate box idea is worse than the 96 empty seats idea. Both reek of unneeded mawkishness.
  19. That's absolute nonsense if you look at the bare figures.
  20. It's partly to do with Chelsea charging more per ticket and mainly due to them including the revenues from the associated Chelsea Village businesses in their accounts.
  21. Which perhaps should have been made more clear as then we'd have less of this tiresome "Maktoum's plaything" and unlimited riches nonsense.
  22. Did this paragraph from this morning's Independent get much attention? Inside the Liverpool hierarchy there was reported unease about a recently leaked document purporting to show DIC intended to borrow to buy, then sell up after seven years for a profit. "Nonsense," says one DIC insider. "The document never mentioned selling up. It just set out anticipated increase in the company's value. And as for other investors, Liverpool knew DIC had partners, and had even met and approved of them." The Independent has learnt that one of these was another Dubai investment firm, Zabeel. Liverpool are saying nothing except that they continue to explore Gillett's bid. ------------ DIC were not going to be sole owners then?
  23. Yes. It the equivalent of us being called mythical by the European press.

  25. there's a comment on that in the Daily Post: The director of the stockbrokers who helped facilitate dealings in LFC shares last night said DIC?s announcement had not come as a total surprise. Neil Blankstone, director at Liverpool-based firm Blankstone Sington, said: ?DIC appear to have done all that was asked of them by the board. ?Unfortunately, abiding by the takeover rules, following George Gillett?s approach, the board is compelled to allow him to complete his own due diligence.?
