  1. Typical rubbish reporting from Prentice who gets both our ranking wrong and knows nothing about the procedure should the Greek teams remain suspended. Galatsaray wouold get the place. If the Italian clusb get relegated they'll be replaced by other Italian clubs.
  2. Surely it depends on whether you're just picking the best five or filling the most needed spots in our current squad? Hence no matter how good Cannavaro and Buffon were, positionally they're not in LFC's top 5 weaknesses so I avoided them in my list.
  3. Gattuso, Messi, Ribery, Tevez, Zambrotta
  4. They have Gonzalez down as being 24 on Monday in his profile
  5. He didn't get the number 12 allocated, it was Albacete who allocated him a number and it was a poorly worded report that confused everyone into thinking it was Liverpool. Blame s**** journalism/babelfish!
  6. This is them returning from the World Youth Cup:
  7. Fowler's attitude was dreadful long before he left the club. Houllier/Thompson didn't "lose the pulse of the club" then - it was another year before the cracks started to appear.

    From TLW

Seems to have done Barca no harm in the last two seasons when desperately trying to balance their budget. Quality Bosman transfers can add loads to a well trained team.
  9. We did.
  10. No one has offered the 5m for Pennant Birmingham want and Grimsby had a slight delay in finalising their move for Heskey?

    Woohoo!

While agreeing that I doubt we've got a penny for him, he started 22 of Bordeaux's 38 league games and came on as a substitute in 4 others.
  12. where/when did you send it mate? I'll have a look now.

    Aurelio

It would have been possible if we'd sold Cisse but without that sale I can't see us spending more than the low 20s after sales.
  14. I wasn't involved in Anfield4ever though I fully supported their view that the club had to explore every option fully before going for a new stadium ahead of renovation. It was Will Melia, Alan Edge and Tim Kelly who were the people behind A4E.

I just can't see us spending any money there. Right midfield and another striker is of far more importance. Pennant won't come cheap so it's not an "easy out" enabling funds to be used elsewhere.

do we need quality cover in CM when Gerrard is moving back there this season?

I don't think there's any chance of Simao joining us - those bridges are long burnt. That "article" Montse linked to is a load of nonsense.
  18. Given that Gerrard's agent got married and f***ed off on honeymoon immediately after the CL final and SG didn't want to talk about a new contract until the season was over I'm still struggling to find this window of opportunity where Parry could have done better.
  19. To be honest I still think he's being polite with his comments and believes the only mistake he/the club made was underestimating the diva behaviour of both player and agent.
  20. It's on the ****ing Echo website.
  21. If we'd only buy Ronaldinho for £40m then really target both the far east and USA shirt market we could pay for his transfer fee in 2-3 weeks in sales then pay for the new stadium over the next year. Problem solved
  22. I just think fans don't understand the finance of football clubs hence there's always huge misconceptions on how transfers are funded, how much money has actually been spent etc
  23. perhaps they read about it in the press when Bellamy signed for Blackburn: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/main.jhtm...08/sfnbel08.xml Impulsive Bellamy signs for Blackburn By Tim Rich (Filed: 08/07/2005) When Craig Bellamy said earlier this summer that he wanted to move to a club that matched his ambition, it was unlikely he had Blackburn in mind. Unlike his other two suitors, Everton and Celtic, the Lancashire club could not offer this mercurial striker Champions League football, nor match his £2.5 million Newcastle salary. His decision to go to Ewood Park for a substantial pay cut surprised his friends on Tyneside and appears to have been taken on impulse. Less than 12 hours after meeting the Blackburn manager, Mark Hughes, at Clayton Blackmore's wedding (Hughes was best man), Bellamy was undergoing his medical. However, the reassurance of familiar faces in the shape of Hughes and his assistants, Mark Bowen and Eddie Niedzwiecki - all of whom had coached him successfully with Wales - was enough to secure his move on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee. Bellamy said, somewhat gauchely, that if it were not for the circumstances, "they would have paid much more for me". There is, however, a clause in Bellamy's contract with Blackburn that would allow him to leave for £6 million should a club in the Champions League make a bid. On his first day at Ewood Park, Bellamy declined to enter into further criticisms of Newcastle, who will use most of the fee of around £5 million to fund their bid for Inter Milan's Turkish midfielder, Emre Belozoglu. "It is up to me to show that I'm not a disruptive influence," he said, which will come as a relief to a dressing room that already boasts his Wales team-mate, Robbie Savage.

    time for a formation which I'm sure we'll see at some stage ... 3-4-1-2 3 Carra-Hyypia-Agger 4 Alves-Alonso-Sissoko-Aurelio 1 Gerrard 2 perm any 2 of Crouch/Fowler/Bellamy/Gonzalez/Kewell/Garcia
  25. He'd have been a big hit if he played in modern football.
