I'd rather take Ashton, but as he's not available Bent will do very nicely. He's certainly not a Markus Stewart who flattered to decieve along with his team for one season, Bent has all the qualities to come good and I think I trust our coaching staff enough to take him that extra step

FIFA interfere with the game enough as it is, can you imagine how much input they would want into a players contract if they were going to be forced to pay that players wages for a period of time during the year. They'd impose salary caps immediately, then we'd have all the mucking around with additional bonuses to top up those contracts, which of course the player wouldn't receive whilst on International duty. Not to mention the fact that FIFA don't do anything for free, so they'd be charging us for their input on top of their normal interference costs

The tramp stated before last weeks game that Scholes was still suffering from blurred vision, doubt he'll have made a miraculous recovery in the space of a week as he's been suffering since Xmas. If Riley is the ref you can put money on him giving a penalty to the diving horse, probably send someone off in the process too. George Best was nothing special though, all the Manc hype over his death has clouded opinions. Watching all those best of clips again just confirmed he was a star at the time and the first media darling, but as a player I've seen Harry Kewell (whilst playing for Leeds admittedly) do in one match just about everything Best did in all those clips. Does that make him a better player?? Does it b0ll0cks!!! Yes Best was special and very talented but talk to a Liverpool fan from the time and they'll tell you Liddell was better, Stoke and you'll get Stanley Matthews. As for saying Barnes' is the best because of 3 years out of 10. Yes he was phenominal for those three years, but at the end of his career it was still the reputation of those three years that kept him on the pitch. Dalglish was always a worthy starter throughout his playing career
