Personally I'd like a 5th official watching a replay who has a feed to the guy in the middle. Only one or two replays any more and the game has moved on. This 5th official can make a recommendation to the main referee on critical events only, goal line, major offsides (Tevez), etc. If the ref chooses to ignore the call he can, but would have to include the reason in his match report. The 5th official is not there for the ref to refer to as that is where the slowing down of the game comes in. The 5th official could also be used for citing of off the ball incidences, with retrospective punishment dealt out by the match referee (yellow or red card) Whilst they're at it (altho not really in the technology modus operandi) I would also like to see them introduce an "orange" card for offences not worthy of a red, but too stupid for a yellow (Pique for the Paraguayan penalty for instance), the orange card basically tells the coach to sub the player off now (or at the next break in play), thereby using up a sub but not reducing the team to ten men. It's something we use in junior games instead of issuing a red card, because reducing the numbers can turn the games into a farce
