I was there courtesy of a friend's spare season ticket. What a hoot! Firstly, Spurs set themselves up by having their 125 year celebrations before the game complete with free flag give-away and parade of stars. Having that kind of pre-match knees-up is bound to leave the players failing to live up to expectations. Neither side looked any good - both gave the ball away after two-three passes and Robinson was dreadful. The crowd was rather quick to get on the team's back (particulary Robinson, I think they have lost faith with him completely, but also Robbie Keane) and their mood was only lightened by a half time rendition of "Happy Birthday To You (Dear Tottenham)" from the Villa fans. Due to some PR oversight or excessive magnanimity the Villa fans were also given free flags to wave (in Villa colours) which meant that when the 4th goal went in their fans could follow up their birthday greetings with "Shall We Wave A Flag For You?" At 4-1 Spurs seemed to disappear into a collective neurosis which onlt disappeared when O'Neil played his masterstroke of bringing on Harewood. I guess he was hoping that Harewood's supreme ball control would mean that Villa could clear their lines and the ball would stick to him (yeah, right Martin). What he wasn't counting on was Harewood inexplicably booting Bent up the a*** in the penalty area. Cue a fevered last 5 minutes, an equaliser and the whole crowd loving Spurs all over again which is just as well as the match programme cost a whopping £10.
