I pitched up in Tamale to watch the final group games (Senegal were playing their final game vs S Africa in Kumasi, I think) and ended up at a hotel that the Senegalese team had been using as their base for their first 2 games. I got sent to room 17, which was ok but the bog had no f***ing seat. Now I may be no Sherlock Holmes but: 1. Senegal had stayed there 2. Diouf plays for Senegal 3. Diouf is a dirty b*****d 4. Therefore, Diouf stole my f***ing bog seat QED and elementary, Dr H.

He also stole my toilet seat, the dirty b*****d.

I don't know how canny he is to be honest (especially if he's only up against vogts... how canny do you have to be??). He seemed to persevere with Gyan for a long time, but once Mensah got sent off his hand was forced a bit and he put on Dede (for Gyan) and played Agogo as the striker through the middle. The two wide guys stretched Nigeria a bit and Agogo is the archetypal lunk of a centre forward who profits from that formation. I think Leroy stumbled on that a bit and it will be interesting to see if he uses Dede from the off against Cameroon (who, in my opinion, are playing the most "African" of all the name teams... defending like idiots, running around all over the place but still managing to be exciting and watchable).

I managed to get a ticket off a tout for that one. Was excellent... sad to be back with the tournament still on....
