Thought he was caught ball watching on the 2nd manc goal as well, carra was drawn across the line, berbatov should never have had the time and room for the overhead. great finish (even though it pains me to say it), but never should've happened. I think that the fact that all 3 of the manc goals came from poor defending was probably the worst aspect of yesterdays performance. if you go somewhere for a draw (yes, i know thats an argument for elsewhere) you have to defend well. There's definitely a big argument for giving Carra a 'rest', probably the Turtle too. I'd be concerned about the hoofing as well, but think that we can worry more about that when there's a bit of defensive solidity.

pretty much all of the 'irish' pubs show all the games - can't think of any sagrada familia direction, but scoobies between placa catalunya and universat would be a safe enough bet, or the fastnet, on passeig joan de borbo, big street that leads to the beach. you'll not have any dificulty finding it on somewhere.

IT'S A FACTORY! Well, according to every media report I've heard in the last year - must have been a memo went round. Seems they forgot that this means a field can now be called a potato factory. (off topic I know, but it winds me up )

Can't remember which match it was (as i was drunk) but definitely remember the commentator & pundits referring to the withdrawn striker role as the "gerrard position". Remember it well because I went on a serious rant about how it was Rafa that stuck him there, the media went apes*** cos he's a central midfielder, and now it's the f**kin Gerrard position... edit - this may make more sense if I add that this wasa world cup match last week at some stage, during a non england match, so it would have been just as easy for the idiot commentators to say the kaka position, the sneijder position etc etc. but no, it's the gerrard position, even though we all know that he's beter in central midfiled. arrrghh.

IMO, it doesn't really matter what Hicks defines as reasonable; the bank have obviously pushed the sale, hicks has nowhere else to turn for financing as he's defaulting all over the place. I've read a few scenarios on here that see H&G escape with a 'small' profit, which seem to be based in some sort of commercial reality. I think the banks will basically say, take this, there's some cash money profit, now fook off. If they dig their hells in the banks call in the loans, they have all the leverage now.

If Pepe Reina had been caught out near post..
spf replied to meredithmathieson's topic in Liverpool FC
much better. -
the blackburn goal is pretty unbelievable, but my favourite has to be him making Vidic look like a complete mincer before burying it past vds.
-
the most important thing is that it seems he wears seven and can still remember how to play / his legs haven't fallen off. sign him up.

jeebus matty, you got a younger sister who's into ex-hippie brazilians or something?

It's extremely telling that even papers which usually have an extremely obvious anti- johnny foreigner slant are takin the piss out of the fat bastad and the gin soaked one... first time I've found myself agreeing with an article in the telegraph, so i spose some 'good' (as well as the stomach hurting laughter) has come out of this

the comments after that one are almost word for word what it's like on here usually - torres is the man, i love you, i want to have his children, he's so dreamy waah etc

haven't had this sick feeling since standing in line for that one, hopefully will have the same feeling after

Don't know if 'most' people would sell him. Personally I think it would be madness. I'm not going to go look up the stats, but I think the vast majority of the people who are bashing him have severely selective memories re: his stupid fouls. One (arguably two) have cost us anything in the recent past. ffs, look at any midfielder closely enough and you'll find stupid fouls that cost their team. at least he has the balls to try and do something. Another way to look at it is this: most south american imports get parked in a second rate league for a few years. ronaldo was at psv. ronaldinho was at psg - messi has been at barcelona since he was 14. I'm sure there are plenty more examples if you care to look. if you were so excited about him , don't you think it's worth giving him a while to settle into the style of football? the lifestyle? the expectations? there has been fairly obvious improvement in my eyes with Lucas, and to say that he's not even good enough for backup is utter tosh - you think fletcher is better? anyway - back on topic... the rafa out heads are mental. and not in the good, yeh he's mental (on a night out) mental. total, absolute madness to be up for getting rid of rafa now. reasoned argument on his stengths and weakneses i can take, but ffs, get rid? jeebus.

Jesus f**cking Christ. I suppose that the goal on Sunday was Lucas's fault then? Because he's so thick he jumped into a tackle in the penalty area again instead of sheparding the attacker (can't remember who it was) and gave away the penalty - nope, wait, wrong game. So he's so stupid that he seems to have learnt his lesson maybe? stupidity off the ball? Holy good f**k, I despair. And by the way calamitymaud, this isn't aimed at you in particular, it's just that your post tipped me over the edge. Is there an emoticon for shaking your head and sighing in resignation?

he's now BAD Xabi... like superman in superman 2.

a pincer movement in the opposite direction from the 'theatre of operations'? and thats not even getting in to the political decision to send most of the british army / fleet half way across the world to save a few sheep and boost mrs thatchers political standing within her own party, with the military, with arms manufacturers and deluded s*n reading thickos. and just to be clear - i didn't originally post the poster to start a huge argument about this - simply to illustrate that there is a large pool of opinion who don't like maggie (to say the least), for many many reasons.

well, it really depends on your point of view yeh? and yes, fyi, imho, she is responsible for the sinking of the belgrano.

edit - and she took away our milk too...

I think that the general plan ill be just to send torres, keane, babel and gerrard out and they'll be switching all over the place. I'm sure in reality it'll be a little more structured than that, but it definitely looks to me like there is going to be a change of emphasis from being slighly more patient in general to just going after other sides. don't comment till he's got a scarf above his head etc aside, i think keane is on paper a very good signing, i think he is a very very good player. the only thing is that this is going to be a big pressure move for him, so how he deals with that will be key. seems to have a good attitude about all that sort of stuff tho, it takes balls to move to italy when you're young, no matter if it doesnt quite work out, and he's been under pressure on the international stage because a lot of the time he's been the only hope ireland have of scoring. which he did, quite lot :

i don't want to get into a big political discussion about this, I'm not condemning the government or people of the UAE totally here. I might have went a bit over he top with the religiuos police bit so i apologise if i've offended anyone. but there are issues to think about - the treatment of construction workers being one which you would agree with. correct me if i'm wrong - i only go on what i read as i've never visited the country, but although the rights of women are legally protected there are still issues there too. My main point would be that it really matters as DIC are basically the dubai government. If individuals are bidding for the club you look at who they are. if a governemnt is buying the club you look at the way the country is ran - and tbh i'm not sure i'm comfortable with the club being owned by any government - whether it's by a proxy company or not. thats why the socio thing would be the way to go. pretty much anyone who is going to have the money/clout to buy a big football club is going to be seen as the enemy by someone - you dont get rich by being nice, someone is generally losing out big time.
-
they're basically a branch of the dubai government - there are all sorts of issues in that country with regards explotitation of workers, womens rights, freedom of speech etc. i did also have reservations about G+H, especially hicks with his friendship with george w, but i think individuals buying the club is different from what amounts to a state buying the club. if it were down to me i'd love the socio model. aint gonna happen tho.

always have been in order - they're all tied into one massive life view, with world peace and equality of all being brought about by the domination of liverpool fc values.

read that earlier this morning, interesting that gillett is said to be angry about hick's interview. you would think that the other investors woul dbe someone who has been in the frame before - basically leaving DIC, miskelly and kraft. Have grave reservations about DIC, not that I think they'd be 'bad' custodians, just the associations with human rights abuses, religious police etc etc etc. would be more willing to overlook all that now than i would have been 12 months ago tho...
