A mass walk-out at the next game that Hicks attends would have far more impact - he would have to sit and watch it happen before his eyes there and then rather than waiting for shirt sales figures to come in. Although our marketing department are woeful we do probably flog a shed load of shirts worldwide and I think it is unlikely to get enough people to join in a boycott to make it work in the short term and short term hits are what we after.
Not sure what's more unlikley - us beating Chelsea at Stamford Bridge or neither Carra or SG getting a yellow there . I think we could manage no problem without Carra in the final but SG would be a real body blow.
A numpty at work said to me today that perhaps if people didn't keep saying JAR had a hopeless right foot, he might have the confidence to use it more! I think we're to blame, he clearly reads the forums too much and has a complex
Does the curriculum mention the success/failure ratio of shooting from 40 yards too? If only this was 'Roy of the Rovers', then JAR would rifle one in from 40 yards to take us through to the final
Is quite right - no excuse for being THAT one footed as to think "I've got more chance heading a ball away that's nearer the ground than to my head" absolutely no excuse whatsoever at this level.
I know what nuance means I see now he clearly meant the latin word nu'anced and missed out the ' That clears it up Clearly I need to brush up on my latin before reading SoS missives in future Anyway - I agreed with the rest of it.
It'll certainly be interesting to see how firmly Gillet sticks to his assurance that he would not sell to Hicks at any cost. Does seem quite unlikely Hicks will find funding in this current financial climate though. Tough one to read this...still
he's going to be gutted - his team played well over two legs but blew leads every time they got them - that's what lost them the tie but he's not going to come out and say they bottled it. Arsenal have gone the same way as many teams before them - they just didn't have enough quality over 2 legs
I personally came on here tonight to enjoy the result with other people but I take your point there is probably room for criticism too. I'll leave you to it
Blimey there's some negative buggers on here Yes Alonso wasn't at his best but at times I thought he did OK. The team in general looked nervy at times - ironically as all the pre-match talk was about the atmosphere getting to Arsenal and it didn't really seem to affect them.
there wasn't a single moment that I thought we were going to win it until Babel scored - it was an amazing match but I'd like to watch it all over again so I can enjoy the first 86 minutes more
No chance he meant it. The fact the other commentator didn't say anything for a moment or two afterwards gave it the air of an awkward silence. It was funny as f*** before that when it was said neither Gillett or Hicks are here tonight and then the camera zoomed in on Gillet - do your research ITV - it was on the icliverpool website that Gillet was going
I think Beglin realised after he said it that it could be taken the wrong way and certainly not the way he intended it. I don't mind the ITV coverage except the guy who was doing the the Chelsea game commentary (from what I gathered from thr highlights) - his voice winds me up no end.
For his failings (of late there have been fewer) Kuyt does provide excellent cover defensively on the right wing and has possibly greater stamina than anyone else at the club, which may be handy if Arsenal tire.
