  1. Second paragraph: I agree, it's concerning that the best local lads choose Everton. First paragraph: mental illness.
  2. They're enormous. They scare the s*** out of me.
  3. I think there's a point in londonkopite's posts that's trying to get out. It does worry me that the standing of our Academy is so low that someone could consider joining Tranmere instead. To just say 'He's thick for doing that' doesn't quite cut it for me. Everton's academy set up has a far better reputation in the area, people look at the two and think 'Moyes is giving these kids a chance, Benitez never will'. The answer isn't that we should play the locals, whatever their standard, that's looking at it backwards. If Hammill, our best creative prospect at that age, isn't good enough then we need to look at improving the setup. Hopefully the shakeup we've just had will go a long way to solving the problem but as long as the best young kids think the Ev have the better academy we will struggle to attract them.

  5. that's a shocker. ban?
  6. Can't wait for the fuggen season to start.
  7. I've no doubt this will be a success, but will we be able to find this alternative on the more destructive side of play? There are different ways to make play, but the way Masch breaks it is pretty definitive. Players like Diarra and Essien offer something different but would that be better for us? We'll see anyway.
  8. I started the summer thinking Masch would be the easier to replace, but I've changed my mind. I couldn't think of a player who replicated what Alonso gave us, but then it becomes clear that we're going for players who offer better movement and more goals and it makes sense. tbc.
  9. He's APPALLING. I never thought I had it in me to strongly dislike someone who sounds like a character in Portland Bill, but Marriner proved me wrong.
  10. I like Wiley and one other. Can't remember the fellas name. Bennett being gone is such a wonderful release. Like doing a big poo.
  11. Dowd?? f*** off. At least Gerrard's got the measure of him, eye contact at all times, a big cricket style appeal whenever someone touches you = win lots of free kicks.
  12. Robben would be PERFECT.
  13. i just love the bones of him.
  14. Can you boil all of these down into 1 manageable figure? It's not for me, it's so DH knows whether to put him in his maths based 1st 11. Insua at the moment is only a 6 so he's got a chance at left back if he scores higher than that...
  15. was in the echo today, he's fine.
  16. this was 100% what i expected the thread to be when i clicked on it.
  17. Speculative in the extreme Stefano.
  18. He'd have a go if he wanted to though. He's in a stronger position now, why wouldn't he come out like he did post A***ns and pre Newcastle?
  19. 2nd is great these days anyway. 5th is nowhere.
  20. If you're trying to put ironic distance between yourself and my law then I'm offended. It's a perfectly sensible law. It's the Dossena song of laws. I think Newcastle away has been used as a place to try things out actually, so maybe you can base something on that fixture. Lucas was very good up there anyway.
  21. I was going to ask that in the Gerro thread.
  22. There's nothing s***house about thinking things through. If it was up to you half the team would have been 'lashed' at some point. I've just realised i'm Johnny Boy (without the nails) and you're Morris. This is fine by me.
  23. top o the world ma!
  24. You mean Agger? I know. It's a puzzler that one.
