If City ceased to exist in the scenario you mentioned, the stadium lease would almost certainly revert to City of Manc. If the club was sold as a going concern like we were, the lease & players would pass to the new owners

They can absolutely continue to own the team if they want. It's a right of the PL and the EFL not to allow entry from a team where the ownership doesn't pass their "fit and proper" test. So they might end up owning a team with nowhere to play until they f*** off. Whether the EFL have got the guts to apply their own rules remains to be seen

That's actually quite an interesting point. If they got expelled from the PL or given such a huge points deduction that they got relegated, then the EFL aren't obligated to let them in. I can't imagine they'd pass any fit and proper owners test after this.

Good luck getting any of that out of them. They’ll tie that up in litigation for years, added to the fact that a lot of these documents would be from companies that PL don’t have any jurisdiction over. They basically just need to be booted out of the league cos the alternative is years more of this s***e

That's the problem innit, the books show genuine sponsorship income coming from the companies that agreed the sponsorship deals. The proof that they cheated & gave the money to those companies to funnel through as sponsorship was obtained by hacking their emails & systems. PL don't have that post 2018, even though it looks fairly probable they were still at it. Any external evidence post-hack will have been long deleted now you'd reckon.

Yeah exactly. Given the extent of the cheating that's been proved up to 17-18, there's almost a zero chance that they suddenly stopped cheating in 18-19 The PL just don't have evidence from the time after the hack.

Dunno if any of it would be new to UEFA. From what I remember they used a lot of the evidence from this hack, but the reason it fell apart on appeal is that UEFA's rules meant a lot of the evidence was time-limited in an way it isn't with the PL

It's not like they had no fans, they were averaging 35-40k a season before this lot took over. If they'd developed the club sustainably, they'd have grown that easily. They chose to cheat like f*** though.

Don't agree. They definitely wouldn't have got there as quickly as we rebounded, but they'd just been gifted a 50k new stadium & would have had a budget in those days that would have let them build a strong squad in less time than you'd think. Also could have done what they did with the academy in much the same way (as the spending on that wasn't restricted) to make it a money generator.

Let’s not forget that, over a slightly shorter time period, we came back from near bankruptcy to legitimately have a team that was the equal of the one they cheated like f*** to build. They could have chosen to build their club playing by the rulebook. We proved that was possible. They decided not to, so everything that gets brought down on them is their own f***ing fault

They can't. The PL rules mean that their only appeal avenue is to PL appeals committee, they're prohibited from going to High Court, CAS etc

His last season at Newcastle was the only one he's ever played more than 3000 mins in a season, and even then only just. We need our main players to play 4000-ish minutes & he's just not gonna ever be capable of that
