Can't stand him, spends too much time acting as a ballboy rather than managing. Any manager who spends £6 mil on Samaras deserves to get the sack. -

I thought Pennant was our third best player yesterday, behind Agger and Kuyt. Would benefit our attacking players we didn't leave it to them to attack on their own, we defend as a team so can we please attack as a team.. Wes seriously lack any forward runs from centre mid at the moment, a player arriving late in the box would give Pennant more options.
-
or that Pennant has impressed more on the right than whoever has played on the left.

missed a pen as well. -
It's a lot easier for him to say good things about us after a win for the bitters , doubt he'd ave been as graciuos if they had lost.
-
we didn't win did we?
-
and i told you attack isn't just about the two strikers ,you don't need pace up front if you have pace on the flanks etc but you do need some pace inyour team somewhere. Also Shearer in his youth was no slouch.
-
unfortunately people judge Gerrard performances by different standards, also playing him on the right is basically attempting to play him in two posistions which brings negatives as well as the positives.
-
it's not but genuine pace in at least one area of attack is required, be it up front or on the wings. Yesterday we had neither.

Agree, Cocu has been a fantastic player and has looked class in many positions. While obviously a natural center mid he never looks out of position. Don't think he has ever really got the the recognition he deserves tbh.

wasn't just me who thought that then..

but that team had balance, the problem isn't always the quality of the player but the type of player that they are.

I know i'm in the minority but as well as Sissoko has been playing ,what is his role in the team? If he is picked to destroy and help Xabi defensively so that he has more freedom to make the play then it is not working. If Sissoko is supposed to be playing a box to box role then he is basically been selected ahead of Gerrard which is crazy. Don't get me wrong I think Momo is a very good player with fantastic potential but both Xabi and Gerrard are better and should be given a proper chance to play together.

Why was Agger dropped? He has been our best defender this season, and deserved to start. We rotate some players because of internationals etc yet Sami who has his worst games when asked to play two games close together(imo he should give up international football ) and Carragher who has been out injured were both favoured over him. We signed two wingers and two strikers in the summer not one of them started. Gerrard doesn't play on the right ,when we play two strikers and Xabi and Momo plus Gerrard we play no right side, leaving us unbalanced. If it's so good why does he nearly always move back into the middle when we are losing? Im not a fan of 3-5-2 but if we don't play wingers we may as well play it, because at least it means players are playing in their best positions.Wish we would just play wingers though. Garcia isn't versatile at all he has one position playing off a striker, he is not a left/right midfielder. We have the players, and I think Rafa will get it right but yesterday he got it wrong.

Echo Reds must show stadium cashSep 8 2006 By Nick Coligan, Liverpool Echo LIVERPOOL FC have just a week to prove they can afford their new stadium. Councillors today agreed to rent out about one-third of Stanley Park so the Reds can build a 60,000-seater ground next to Anfield. But they warned that the council has now done all it can to assist Liverpool's plans and the ball is firmly in the club's court. Senior councillors were told the Reds' board must come up with concrete evidence that they can pay for the stadium itself by the end of next week. That will give European and government officials enough time to decide if they will hand over £15m of taxpayers' money at a crucial meeting at the end of the month. Story continues ADVERTISEMENT A package of grants will pay for the regeneration of the community around Stanley Park, without which Liverpool will not be allowed to build a stand-alone stadium. The club have always accepted that regeneration goes hand-in-hand with the ground plans. Cllr Flo Clucas sits on the Objective One committee which will decide whether to give a £10m handout towards the scheme. She said: "The stadium is regarded by our European colleagues as absolutely vital. Without it, there will be no European funding. "That has been said loudly and clearly to the club. "If the club does not come forward with its funding, this regeneration project does not exist. "We are waiting for them to say what they will do, because everything else is in place. "They will need to come forward with their funding in the next week so reports can be ready for the committee. If they do that, we will be in a position to proceed." Steven Broomhead, chief executive of the North West Development Agency, added: "Any decision on our potential investment remains dependent on Liverpool securing the necessary funding to take this scheme forward. "We need to be certain that all the money is in place and that the stadium is going ahead before we can formally approve any funding for the scheme." Councillors today approved the regeneration side of the scheme, which includes the restoration of the rest of Stanley Park and the creation of a new Anfield Plaza on the current stadium site. They also agreed a 999-year lease on the section of parkland needed for the new ground. A handful of protesters demonstrated outside the town hall, claiming the scheme would see the loss of precious green space. But the executive board was told public open space would be created at Anfield Plaza, a shop-lined concourse to the stadium from Walton Breck Road. nick.coligan@liverpool.com

click Atletico Madrid striker and skipper Fernando Torres has agreed a 12-month contract extension at the club. The Spain international, 22, had been tracked by a host of clubs over the summer, including Manchester United, and his new deal will run until 2009. "I had two years left on my contract. After all the uproar this summer I am still here and the club have offered me another year," said Torres. "I am delighted because I feel valued at the club and this is further proof." Torres came up though the youth ranks at Atletico and has been their leading scorer in each of the last four seasons. That domestic record and some eye-catching performances for Spain, not least at the World Cup finals, attracted interest from several of Europe's biggest clubs. But Atletico were always keen to keep their talisman at the Vicente Calderon. Good to see a player showing some loyalty but i definitely think to reach his potential he will have to leave eventually.
