Hearing yet again John Barnes on the radio, speaking sense and from the position of authority of one who has seen it and done it, I really think that Liverpool should find a role for him im a completely revamped PR/media unit. The failure to get our side of the story out has been shocking. As a side-issue, I've also been interested in the almost complete silence on this matter from SOS. After initially stating that they would wait for the report to be written (a fair enough stance), their comment after that was, in my opinion, lukewarm and wishy-washy. SOS are very good at holding the club to account, but surely this could have moved on to try and hold the FA to account? I would have thought SOS provided a useful vehicle for LFC to use as a backchannel to get their side out, the facts which might just make people query their original opinions - e.g. the number of statements that Evra is meant to have submitted to the FA, tailoring his story to suit the available facts. Even the FA report on the coin toss at the beginning of the match would have provided ammunition for SOS to query the "credible, consistent" status afforded to Evra by the FA. I may be misjudging the situation here (and, if so, I am sure that PeeGee will correct me!) but it seems to me that various influential figures within SOS were actually of the opinion that Suarez was effectively "Guilty as charged", and that this has effectively severly muted the SOS response.
