'Rocheteau' : I believe FSG are sincere that they want us to have Champions League football and there is a compelling commercial and sporting logic to that. Could there be an equally compelling strictly commercial logic to not-funding us to the level required for Campions League, but simply ticking over with a huge fan base, TV rights etc. 'Rocheteau' : They have brought in a bright progressive manager with a remit to play attacking football which suggests that they have some ambition if you believe Tom Werner, but the club needs an injection of £30m plus the summer sales at least to build towards it - thats a first step - then another £30m the season after should we get Champions League qualification. a bright progressive manager : who was on nobody's radar for being the next Liverpool manager back in the summer - see the poll on this site alone. Bright, progressive manager = inexperienced, no track record of success, cheap and malleable? if you believe Tom Werner therein lies the problem with that statement. Werner has shown himself up to be a man of soundbites with no substance - aren't we able to compete financially with any club in the world, according to Tom Werner? Apart from Clint Dempsey, obviously. We'd rather leave the club with no strikers. And I don't like these leaked stories of who we were going to bid for, but never quite got them. Very Everton-esque, trying to appease the fans. I think that the strange thing is with FSG is that, two years into their stewardship, you can make equally compelling cases that they are good owners for us at this time, or alternatively that their inexperience in football matters is costing the club an awful lot.
