    Pepe

Loved the way he dummied the attacker on that back pass and calmly played the ball out to one of the defenders. Such a cool head and shows he's got his confidence back. He had an air about him last night and dominated his area well with some good claims and punches. I also love the way that when he knows an attacker is off side yet they still shoot he just makes and nonchalant save as if saying "Whatever!". He did that last night where he just put his right arm up and made the save!
  3. Never mind this competition he's only 3 away from equalling Owen's record of most European goals which he could quite easily do this season. Looking at the stats, can you beleive Heskey has more European goals than the likes of Fowler, Keegan and Dalglish!! LFC History
  4. Gerrard Kuyt Finnan
  5. From the looks of it it'll be down to away goals, so a score draw and PSV will go ahead of us.
  6. If we draw with PSV tonight and we match their final result does it come down to goal difference or the matches played against each other?
  7. And Momo scared the s*** outta them in the Community Shield!
  8. Wouldn't mind getting Barton in but he is captain of his current club and along with the other 3 would expect a starting berth which could cause some problems, especially if we aren't winning things or getting the amount of games that requires 4 top quality CMs.

  10. Win this one and we finish top of the group and should hopefully get an "easier" draw for the last 16. We could also then give some of the younger players a taste of a European game against Galatasary away. For that reason I think Rafa will take this game very seriously even tho we have qualified and also to get some confidence back along with scoring some goals. I'd probably make 2 changes from the Boro game and put Garcia in for Pennant and Crouch in for Bellamy, altho what Rafa will do is anyone's guess.......!
  11. But will give us more possibilities!!
  12. I think if Aurelio plays he'll be LW to keep some continuity at the back, especially if Hyypia is rested.

From the Official Site Steven Gerrard has admitted he's lacked composure in the final third this season ? but is confident the goals will soon start flying in. The skipper has netted just once for the Reds this term and was denied twice during England's friendly in Holland on Wednesday. "I think I am lacking a bit of composure in front of goal because the goals haven't been flowing in for me this season," said Gerrard, who scored 23 times last season. "I've done everything right except the finish but I was pleased against Holland that I was getting into those forward positions. "I've got every confidence the goals will come. This season I've been getting in the positions to score and it has not quite happened for me. "Last season mis-hits and deflections were going in for me. The goals will come and that is all that is missing at the present time." Where as they always have been for Frank!! I don't remember any defelctions/mis-hits.

From the Official Site Liverpool youngster Adam Hammill was in great form for England Under-19s when he scored in the 3-2 win over Switzerland at Crewe Alexandra's Alexander Stadium. The Reds winger was joined in the starting line-up by Anfield team-mates Paul Anderson and Craig Lindfield. All three played a major part in the first goal when Anderson and Lindfield combined to set up Hammill. It was Lindfield's vision that spotted Hammill making his run and the winger finished coolly. Lindfield also set up the second England goal with a pass to West Ham's Hogan Ephraim. Hammill played for 79 minutes, Anderson for 71 minutes and Lindfield 55 minutes.
  15. So Rafa's team then. Anyone got any ideas? I think he'll go for: Reina Finnan Carra Hyypia Riise Pennant Alonso Gerrad Zenden Kuyt Bellamy Garcia might get a game ahead of Pennant if he's fit.

    Zonal marking?
  17. And Zenden wasn't? With Pennant coming on not only did you change the balance of the side once but twice with Gerrard coming inside and Zenden moving out to the left. At least Gonzalez was running at defenders and had the pace we needed on the break. What was Zenden gonna do against Eboue, skin him for pace? Skin him with a trick? Or maybe was he gonna whip a ball round him with his renowned delivery?
  18. Reina Finnan Carragher Agger Riise Garcia Gerrard Alonso Gonzalez Kuyt Crouch
  19. I think the problem I have with him is just that. He's cover but getting far more games than he should when IMO we have better options. For example playing Gerrard on the right and starting Zenden in the middle against Arsenal and then staying on with Gonzalez going off.
  20. Liverpool goalkeeper Jose Reina has invited the club to open talks over extending his stay at Anfield. Reina, who joined Liverpool last summer from Villarreal, still has three years to run on his current contract. The Spaniard impressed during his first season at Liverpool and he is ready to start talks about a new deal. "Next year we'll start talking about another deal," said Reina. "I am so settled. I recharged my batteries on holiday in Majorca and Ibiza with my wife after we got married on May 19. "We are both happy in Liverpool and would love to stay longer." Meanwhile, Reina has backed Reds boss Rafa Benitez to turn his side into serious title contenders this season. Reina is a big admirer of Benitez and believes he can help them close the gap on Chelsea even though he does not have much money to spend on new players. "For me, Benitez does not need money to make a champion team," added Reina. "He builds teams without spending a fortune. He did it at Valencia and now he is doing it at Liverpool. "It was a big shock to everyone in Spain when Valencia won the title, because they did not have as much money as Barcelona and Real Madrid. "He took a normal team and made it into the best in the country. There is a lot of belief at Liverpool that he can do the same again. "The advantage we have is Rafa Benitez. He's one of the best managers in football. "Winning the FA Cup was a good achievement, but this time we have to win the most important titles - the Premiership or the Champions League. "It was impossible to compete with Chelsea last season because they had almost two teams. But we closed the gap last season and this time we believe it is possible to catch them and beat them. " Taken from Sky Sports on 30 July 2006
  21. How much and when for?
  22. Link?
  23. Madness considering Sven was in charge and the fact he hadn't played for 5 months, was unfit yet still was always gonna get a starting berth let alone a place in the squad.
