I'd love to see the owners make a stand on this, and the manager. Owners to come out and say, they are not selling him. Let him see out his contract, take the compensation fee for training him, and take a hit on the rest. Show that the integrity of the club means more than money. The manager to thereafter show he can build a team and not rely on a single player. Banish him to the reserves for two years, let him rot on his £35k a week. Give him no game time whatsoever, and again, show no one player is bigger than the club. That to me would show the owners and the manager have balls.
