I agree with most of what you posted... but the bit in bold - this is my greatest concern. When the chips are down, who is the inspiration on the pitch? Who takes the fight on? Psychologically... where is our stand out guy who can lift the team and give everyone confidence, and turn a game. Take the EL final. The brutal truth is our players lost the mental battle within themselves, when that first goal went in. They cracked. Wind the clock back to Istanbul, the opposite happened, and the one guy we had, who was psychologically head and shoulders above everyone on the pitch, was Gerrard. Granted, you're not going to find another Gerrard, but we do need a figure who is the leader. I have nothing against him, but Henderson is most definitely not that guy. Just ask yourself this... if you're say 2-0 down in a game, would you really fancy Henderson to get you back into the game? I just don't see it in him. Klopp can only do so much... its the players who I feel are mentally weak. They all seem equally average when they have to fight. There's not a leader amongst the lot of them. So i'm all for one big push, to bring in a captain material player.
