Marcelo Bielsa to Leeds? Now that would be a massive coup for them... but how long would he last with his temperament and their awful owners? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44369471

I've seen him play a few times... similar level to Willian when he went to Chelsea. Seems to be able to play with both feet. To make a comparison to someone in our squad i'd say Ox, but with better range of passing.
-
He'd come on leaps and bounds in our team. Easily a 20 goal a season player with the amount of chances we create. Just his tough luck he's working under a "defend first" type manager.

Gents... I'm truly touched by your gestures. I really am. But i'm a little shy about taking donations off people... simple reason being that our charity is unregistered. It's been running since 1998, and has always been self financed by myself and the family. So I am unable to give people accountability of where the money goes and what it is being spent on. Hence I don't ask for cash donations. I don't bother with a website either... the £50 quid or so I might spend maintaining it would be better put to use on say paying for stationary. It's not some massive project if that's what you're all thinking. We have about 60 kids ranging from 5 upto about 16 years old, and cover their basic living costs and education. The orphanage is built on a little piece of land donated by my old man literally at the end of our estate. There'a always a trip once a year guaranteed (usually December) for when the kids graduate - we hire teachers to educate them privately. So I would say if you're all feeling charitable - don't give cash. But what I will take is if someone wants to donate say sports equipment, or a set of kits. Anything I can give to the kids for their use. That way I can at least show you guys afterwards where it all went.

That would be a dream for the entire nation. Any club who can do that will add 160 million people to their fan-base overnight! Our national team is pants... just no support at government level for the game to develop. If Iceland can produce a a team from 300k people, and Uruguay from 3 mill surely we can with a 160mill??

My days work was wrapped up by 12... I made the mistake of waking up at 5am today. I just watched the first leg again... this time in HD on a decent sized screen! Now need to kill the next 4 and a bit hours... We'll be ok today... just be prepared for some nervous moments. There'll be a few.

He definitely is. I was in Dubai for a week before my trip to Bangladesh, and everyone there feels like he is one of them, regardless of what part of the Arab world they are from. One of the guys manning the front desk at my hotel was Egyptian... he remembered me from my last trip when we just signed Salah back in August. He had not played a game for us yet... and he was telling me how everyone in Egypt sees him as a national icon, and the move to Liverpool had everyone talking, even the Man City fans in the UAE love him. Another Lebanese guy on the desk was saying how he hopes he becomes a super star and then signs for City! I agreed to watch an Egypt game with them when i'm back there during the world cup.

This is nothing compared to what will happen later... it will be the same as the city game. This lot will come flying out... we'll concede early, and then we'll all collectively s**t our pants for the best part of the first half. Then eventually the tide will turn in the second half, and we'll get that much needed goal. There after we'll comfortably see out the game. I reckon 2-2 tonight... but not before we all loose hairs, fingernails and our voices. It's just no fun otherwise.

Cheers for the comments chaps. They love footie over there, just as much as cricket. They just don't have the means to watch games. Average wage is about £30 a month, so buying a telly is the least of their priorities. I hear they'll be groups of people pooling together to hire TV's and generators during the world cup, Let's just say there'll be a few cheering Egypt on for sure.

I was in Bangladesh last week when the first leg was on. Kick off was at 12:45am. 2 weeks before I got there, I called the head teacher who runs the orphanage my family set up, and told him no matter what, I HAVE to watch this game. I told him it was the most important thing on my trip! He simply couldn't understand why this game was so important to me. I tasked him with finding me a solution to watch the game... in return I said i'd buy him a new mobile phone. Now bearing in mind that my ancestral home is in a really really remote part of the country (we have no running water or electricity - roads have only just got there last year). He made some calls, found one small computer shop in a town nearby where the guy said he would stream the match for me, then that fell through, Monsoon rains had started and a hurricane took out his phone line! Found another guy in another town, said he would get me the game, but he wanted paying. I said fine... two days later he doubled the money because of cost. I said fine... the third day he said he wanted it upfront, so I cancelled that. Was looking like my last resort was to travel 35 miles, taking 2.5hours and check into a hotel in a big city and watch the game there - which I was reluctant to do as I had work to do in the village that day and the following day. Then I hear of a couple of guys across the river who run a sweetshop - apparently they have a telly and a satellite dish (they have electricity too). By now I’ve made it to Bangladesh and it's the day of the game... I send someone over there pronto to investigate. Report comes back that it’s on!! So at 12am a small crowd starts gathering at my house... its like a gathering at a pub before a game, except there's no booze. So I tell everyone let's just get to the other side of the river and we can watch the pregame build up, and i'll treat them all to some fizzy pop. Before you know it I’m buying some 30 odd people coke, sprite, and some other local sugary red bull knock off that they love, but not everyone can afford. Cups of tea, sweet sugary cakes, and awful biscuits do many rounds. I educate them on why this game is so important... I tell them about the ECL, LFC, and Mohammed Salah. They'd never heard of him before. After much anticipation, the game starts. About 40 by now huddle round a small 14 inch colour tv, inside a tea/sweetshop with a motorbike parked up inside. (I’d post a picture but don’t know how to upload) 15 mins in, and they all start saying to me that your team is not doing very well. They look worried for me... and then Salah comes to life. I shout and cheer the house down all by myself when he bends that first goal in, and they all stare at me with amazement. They see him prostrating on the ground after he scores, and a new hero is born in this tiny corner of Bangladesh. Being mostly devout Muslims, they have "one of their own" and a new group of LFC fans are born. Then disaster strikes... we are 5-0 up and it’s the 78th min , and the electricity cuts out. So I pick up a mighty tab of £11.50 for drinks and snacks, and we all bail, and let the shop keepers get some sleep. It's not coming back on probably until dawn. I go home walking on air thinking this is in the bag and they are all patting me on the back as if I was playing the game myself. They seem chuffed for me. I get home, turn my phone on and they’ve scored 2! Suddenly I feel a little jittery remembering how they turned it around against Barca. But still feel confident as I know we are capable of scoring too. The following day it’s all they talk about... how did they score 2 after we left! I got back to London on Sunday, and these past few days have dragged... you can probably tell, as I never contribute much to the forum, and this is probably the longest post i’ve ever made. I got calls this morning from B’desh... they are gathering to watch Salah finish the job off. I sent them £30 via western union for drinks and the evenings cost. 9 and a bit hours to go...

I don't know about massive failure... but being a manager isn't as easy as some would have you believe. There have been some truly great players who have failed miserably as managers. As great as Stevie was as a player... nobody can really say with any certainty how he'll perform as a manager until he takes his first gig. This notion that he should be an automatic choice to be Liverpool manager is a bit naive. Spending more time here and working under Klopp i'd say is his best bet, rather than jumping in at the deep end with Rangers. He's onto a hiding for nothing there. For every Guardiola, Ancelotti, Capello, Cruyff... there is a Gullit, Roy Keane, Zola, Maradona and many many more.

Never know with Lovren.... and while Karius is getting better, he's still not convincing. It's why we have to score first. Psychologically it will be massive. -
If we're looking at free transfers, i'd much rather we went for Robben or Ribery... both out of contract in the summer. How much fun can it be to play in a one team league?

We have to score first i reckon to see this game out comfortably. It will leave them needing 5, and I can see them deflated. If they score first... I can see us getting jittery, and they'll surge in confidence. With our suspect defense and keeper, this game could end up being the complete opposite of last week. Last weeks defensive display was solid... but it's not been often enough this season. It's crazy... I was absolutely convinced last week we'd win... I have no idea why i'm nervous this week despite a 3 goal lead. -
