  1. I don't think he expected his comments to get so much attention. Funny on SSN last night how the other managers interviewed all seemed to pleed ignorance to the matter, including Harry Redknapp.
  2. If Shay Given's injury was as bad as originally expected the Barcodes would have given up 3 million in a second. When will players learn that they play for a club and are part of a team. Personal opinions and their International ambitions shouldn't play any part in the matter. We have a keeper who had gone countless hours without conceding and the Dude was injured. He has done nothing to be able to demand first team football. Especially when his own form has been erratic. When players sign a contract they ought to realize they are making a commitment to the club whether playing, injured or on the subs bench.
  3. Young Goalies 'r' us
  4. The Dude's Agent is one Lech Walenza..................... A strike could be on the cards.
  5. Wat's wrong with Mido? He seems to be every bit as good as Torres.
  6. On a recent BBC 5 Live quiz they said Port Vale was the only one.
  7. What's the only team in the English league not actually named after a place?
  8. The difference between us and Utd in the transfer seems to be their willingness to get the deal done whatever it takes. Our dealings seem to have to be largely on our terms. They have quickly moved to strengthen weker areas of their team this window. It looks like Graveson will be joining them and he brings the stell they have lacked in midfield. Players like Evra, Vidic and Graveson can slot straight into their team. We on the other hand have brought in a player we signed as part of a swap largely on the fact he couldn't settle in Spain, not so much that he was a target. If we were to get some key injuries in the next few weeks we will see how low we are on quality replacements for first team players. We may have to change our philosophy of always looking for players at a price we value them, as in reality overpaying for players has and always will be part of the game.
  9. I thought that as soon as he was being stretchered off. Wasn't there talk that he didn't want to go before that?
  10. It's not just the bigger teams who don't take it seriously. Wigan who are in the semi's played a reserve team vs Newastle. Many other teams in the premiership are more concerned about staying in it than playing in the Yoofa next season. We got there last season on the backs of largely reserve team players. Then we put a full team out at Cardiff. If that is to be the case why not let the smaller teams battle it out and make the Charity shield later in the season, make it more competitive game and actually mean something. Therefore the minnows battle for a chance to get to a final and the previous seasons League and Cup winners play a game of some significance.
  11. I had the great honour of receiving a footy trophy from Cally circa 1972. The saying "Class Act" was invented for Cally I believe. A quiet, down to earth man who never liked the limelight and never forgot where he came from. He was so good at his job you never really noticed him. He rarely if ever had a bad game and he quietly scored some very good and important goals for the club. If any one who has played the game was to get the title "Mr Consistancy" it was Cally. Loyal to Shanks and Bob and a Liverpool man through and through. He was even so classy as to disappear from the game without having to live on his illustrious past like so many ex-pro's do today. Many who acheived a fraction of what Cally did. When I hear people use the phrase "LIverpool Legend" I only think of one player that heads my list and...................... it's Cally, it's Cally, it's Cally de ra de ra de ra.
  12. Elton John
  13. Rafa has secret plans to take Liverpool FC into the NBA.
  14. I remember seeing Terry Mac many many times in the Quarry Green Club absolutely shet-faced. Sometimes on a Wednesday or even Thursday night before a game. Needless to say Terry had one of the best engines in the game at the time much like Stevie. I think some people are blessed with tremendous fitness levels wether they drink or not. Unfortunately not me.
  15. It's not surprising just a shame that he spent 20 million on a bunch of schite in one summer. If he rated them that highly surely he would have liked to get them for a bargain basement price.
  16. Funny how GH never showed any interest in any of his his flops. I am surprised Daio isn't marshalling the midfield of Lyon or Bruno playing the Zidane Role.
  17. No-one expects the Spanish Inquisition
  18. Is Bowyer part of the deal? When will Newcastle finally get the point that it is their defence that is Schite and continously buying midfielders and forwards won't help.
  19. I can't quite fathom why Allardyce doesn't play him more. He scores in every game he seems to play. Maybe he isn't quite Alehousesque for Fat Sam.
  20. The things the Mancs will do to ensure they have mid-week footy.
  21. I think he is somewhat a victim of his own success. No-one really expected him to play as much as he has. He has put in many excellent performances and prrematurely has received some comparisons to Viera. Therefore a poor performance and people are all over him. His tackling gets a little sloppy at times and he will have to learn not to pick up silly bookings early in the game as it takes away his aggresiveness. If he can do that and as he matures he will become a fixture in the team for many years to come.
  22. What's more concerning to me is that many on here forget the display as long as we win. If we would have lost that game, which we quite easily could have done the board would have been lit up with complaints. As it was many were relieved and had some good points to make. Differing opinions make this forum what it is.
  23. I would bring him back as a squad player. He's still a better finisher than anyone we currently have on the books. We could use him as a "Super Sub". He wouldn't cost anything and money wouldn't be a concern. A good couple of years in a Gary Mac type role would be great to end his career.
  24. I bet your missus is happy.
  25. I would also add 6. Crouch played his worst game for us to date He didn't want to know. I hope him finding his scoring boots doesn't stop him from putting the typ of work in he did prior to his first goal.
