    Sissoko

Eye injury woe for Sissoko Liverpool midfielder Mohamed Sissoko was forced to stay in a Lisbon hospital overnight while a "serious eye injury" sustained in the 1-0 Champions League defeat to Benfica is assessed. The Mali international received a kick to the head from Beto in the first half and was carried off on a stretcher after several minutes' treatment, to be replaced by Dietmar Hamann. Sissoko was taken to hospital complaining of blurred vision and he will remain there until he has been fully checked over. "It is a serious eye injury which means Momo will be staying in hospital overnight for observation and further tests," said a Liverpool spokesman. "The club doctor and one of the physios is staying in Portugal with the player to make sure he is okay and it will then be decided when he comes home, which will probably be on Wednesday." http://www.teamtalk.com/teamtalk/News/Stor...1036687,00.html Get well soon lad, hope you are on the plane today
  3. I'm naturally disappointed that we lost a game we clearly should have won, but in a way when we play them at home we will be focused on a win and know what we have to do. If we were 1-0 up we could end up making a silly mistake and blowing it. The boys will be up for it, esp after being on a plane with a clearly seething Rafa!
  4. Bring it on! Shearer wont be too chuffed!

  6. FFS I started this post shortly after the match because I genuinely am concerned for the guy. It doesnt matter who he plays for or what he has done in the past. He has suffered a truely horrific injury, LFC are the best supporters in the world, why can we not show some compassion instead of the vitriolic abuse that some are giving. Is that too much to ask???
  7. Oops sorry! You never know whats true or not!

  10. On another thread about the differences between the 2 teams one guy posted 'Liverpool are a one man team.....Rafa Benitez!' How true!

  15. What you can put money on is the fact that we may have worked out the team but Rafa will come along with a surprise package like Warnock at LB or play Moro on his own up front. He does this for the big games, never seems to go for the strongest available team - I'd love to see Crouch and Fowler start that could scare the living daylights out of their back 4!

  17. Thats terrible if the news was kept from him for so long, his poor wife must have been in bits. Wasnt he and his family subjected to death threats after the last African Nations? Football really isnt that important in the grand scheme of things

  21. RAFA: IS ROBBEN IN HOSPITAL? Steve Hunter 05 February 2006 Rafael Benitez has launched a scathing attack on the theatrics of Chelsea winger Arjen Robben for the incident that saw Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina sent-off during the Reds' 2-0 defeat at Chelsea. Benitez did not condone Reina's reaction when he touched Robben, but felt Chelsea's Dutch international made a meal out of the situation. "I'm in a hurry and I must go to the hospital to see how Robben is, he could be in hospital for a week," commented Benitez. "It's a crazy situation. Reina made a mistake when he was provoked and touched Robben on the face, but has he broken his neck? I don't understand why you can kick everyone in a game then you touch one player and you are sent-off. "What sort of professional would do that to another professional knowing he could make him miss three matches?" Liverpool are likely to appeal against the decision which is set to rule Reina out of the coming matches against Charlton, Wigan and Arsenal. "On the game itself we created chances in the first half but we made a mistake from a corner and we paid the price for it. Chelsea are a good team and played good counter attacks," added the manager. "What we need to do is score more goals from the chances we create. In the first half we played well but as soon as we made the mistake Chelsea could play the game as they wanted. They're a good side." Nice one Rafa!
  22. All I can say is I hope he is OK, there is lots of speculation and rumours but at the end of the day he is human. Whatever the reason I hope he gets the support and respect from the club, his family and the fans.

I actually agree with Lauro for once... Lawrenson questions Souness moves Boumsong and Babayaro were both signed by Souness Mark Lawrenson has criticised former team-mate Graeme Souness for his perseverance with defenders Jean-Alain Boumsong and Celestine Babayaro. Newcastle sacked Souness on Thursday after one point from six games but there was no sympathy from Lawrenson. "The worse Boumsong became the more pig-headed and determined Souness was to dig his heels in and keep on playing him," Lawrenson told the Daily Mirror. "Boumsong has become the biggest joke in the Premiership." Lawrenson, who played with Souness at Liverpool, said Boumsong was "costing the team goals and points" and was not much more complimentary about Babayaro. "Souness had assembled a half-decent midfield and his attack is good but they stand no chance with such a poor defence. The Frenchman (Boumsong) has become one of the worst players in the Premiership. "And it doesn't stop there. Fancy bringing in Celestine Babayaro to strengthen your defence. He doesn't know the meaning of the word." Souness signed Boumsong from Rangers for £8m in 2005 and also brought in Babayaro, from Chelsea for £1m. There have been some seriously dogdy dealings but this takes the biscuit. So glad we didnt go for him! Hell I'd even prefer Josemi at CB!
