The rewriting of importance that makes the Carling Cup more important than the Champions League?

Sounds a bad idea unless it's forced - has that ever worked? Diarra, Le Tallec, Pongolle etc. I'd rather have him over here learning about the Premiership and under the guidance of Rafa.

Xabi's crosses were quality so I think I would let him take them - plus Stevie's a strong, physical guy so you'd think he'd get a few goals if he was in the box, or waiting on the edge to fire in any rebounds.

Aaargh I hate this - the ones I like (ie the first one and any with the proper Liverbird on) are always fakes; and the dodgy, horrible, cheap and tacky ones are always the genuine kits

I loved how at the start I was thinking "how's he gonna cope? will it affect him? is he gonna be confident heading the ball?" First minute - goes for a header, flicks the ball on, 1-0 Liverpool !!

Yes I'd like to see us make a bid for him if Birmingham go down, even if he's just a 'back-up' option on the right. Dare I say it...he reminds me a bit of Ryan Giggs.

Yep It was just fantastic to see him playing again - and playing well. Class act.

To be honest I'd feel better if he kept his glasses on - he's taking a risk every time he goes up for a header, and it's not worth the risk to me. Would hate to see him end a potentially brilliant career because of it - or worse.

Just noticed that the 1984 European Cup Final is being shown on ESPN (Sky channel 442) at 1pm today - definitely worth recording to watch after the match. The 1978 final against Bruges is also being shown on Friday at 10pm.

If this is the 'Jaw-dropping' signing then we are well and truly F***ED. Can't believe we are even contemplating buying Ronaldo. Past his prime, over-weight, nothing whatsoever to motivate him, here for the ride, passed over by all the other big teams - this is a desperate Newcastle type signing, not one we should be touching with a barge-pole if the people who run our club knew what they were doing. I despair.

Well I'm planning on taking the "Ah well, still just the five times then" approach! Istanbul was magical, and in a way I'm glad it's set apart on its own. If the board find Rafa the £30m he wants and we keep him at the club for the next five years then the future still looks very rosey. Nice to hear the crowd singing his name at the end (and Gary Macca's).

People keep saying Owen would have guranteed us 25 goals a season, but I don't remember him ever being that prolific, plus we were a bit one-dimensional with him in the team. In truth he is injury prone too - we could have spent £18m on him and he would have been in our treatment room instead of Newcastle's. If he was desperate to come back to Liverpool he should have sat on his contract at Real, so we could have bought him back at a price we could afford - he's made his own bed I feel.

Can't say I'm a fan of the banner, as I prefer the more classical, elegant type flags. However it has grown on me since I first saw it, and I think if it's mixed with a few others on the Kop it will look good - each to their own.

Hope he has a blinder then and gets to the World Cup.

Well Defoe scored twice today - even as a short term solution it would have spared us from relying on low on confidence, low on goals strikers for the rest of the season - which looks like it is going to cost us.
