  1. And Lo, it was known. And the people were happy. Hobbs 3:16
  2. What's the deal with Hobbs? I thought he was a CB, but he's being mainly played in CM for the reserves. Are we changing his position, or is it to give him better ball playing experience?
  3. The dirty bluenose b*stards aren't in Europe any more They went to Villareal, and were embarrasingly poor, Then they went to Dinamo, and conceded more than four The dirty bluenose b*stards aren't in Europe any more

  5. Reina. means we won't have to change it again next season
  6. I'll be there. Dunno about where to drink tho. any ideas welcome
  7. In that case.... SiGn SpAnIeLs it was/is a damn sight more effective than signing a giraffe - tall but no power, and a bit nervous.
  8. This post is sponsored by the words 'Lively' and 'Mobile'. Baros was both of these, and it was these two assets that caused defences problems, pulling them out of shape, maybe beating a man. Then allowing the midfielders to get into the game (when he looked up!) Crouch occupies defences, but in a totally different way and one that is easy to defend - how often do you see an opposition CB dragged onto the wing? Baros was great on his own up front last year, worked his a*** off and caused entire defences problems on his own. That's never going to happen with any of the forwards we have at the moment. I'd take Baros over any of our strikers at the moment, with the possible exception of Crouch. Those 2 could/should have been playinhg together at any rate. I also believe that Baros was sold cos we needed the money - In pure footballing terms he could absolutely have done a job this year.
  9. and keep those mockers in check!
  10. Crouch is a poor header of the ball - he's a knock-on specialist. When was the last time you saw Morientes attack a cross? that's a shocking stat though, although I can't say i'm too surprised
  11. Red Spotted Fernando Morientes going into a banjo shop in Southport Luis Garcia shopping for platform shoes at Cheshire Oaks Djibril Cisse at a Barbers in Frodsham, asking for a 'short back and sides' Rick Parry at Natwest Bank, asking about low interest loans... Momo Sissoko at Specsavers in Warrington Jamie Carragher in the reception of the Roslin Institute, Scotland (we all dream...)
  12. Fair point, but unless you were threatened with the sack would you do anything to seriously jeopardise LFC? Even then most people would have to seriously think about it. Also, If he is doing this just to get a story, against Rafa's wishes, then he'd be potentially ruining the relationship he has with both Rafa and the club. Is it worth that just for a few quid??
  13. True, but my point here is about his intention. As he's a fan, he is (hopefully) only going to do what's best for the club so wouldn't make comments such as these unless there was some benefit at the end of it. If these comments were coming from someone such as Winter i'd treat them as a feeble attempt to undermine us, but the fact that it's Ballague means he has got a different agenda. Pro LFC, Pro Rafa, who knows? And with him having close-ish links with Rafa, you'd have thought after he first made these comments he'd have been told to shut it. But no, here he is again repeating and reinfrcing his points which makes me think he's had the green light, so to speak. The way it looks to me at the moment is that either someone (Rafa?) is trying to force the boards hand re: cash for transfers, or maybe even to clear the way for a move to Madrid (doubtful). However this doesn't strike me as Rafa's style, to use the media to force the issue - He's a straight guy and not down for games etc. It begs the question though - as an LFC fan, why is Ballague making these comments?
  14. Ballague just on SSN again, repeating his comments. Saying Rafa want to stay, but needs to be backed by the board. Bearing in mind these two know each other, and Ballague is an LFC fan, I think that he's making these comments with Rafa's blessing/guidance. Being a fan, he wouldn't want to harm the club in any way, so I reckon it's trying to force the board to act.
  15. That's irrelevant though, the question was 'have we improved from last season?' And of course the answer in an emphatic yes - 2nd compared to 5th last yr, 3 points off last yr's total with 10 games remaining. However things could/should be even better on balance of our play this yr.
  16. you absolutely can do that - if it's the right player and there's no-one better. It's not ideal by any means but each signing should be on it's individual merits and not to do with any history. If £17M was regarded as a fair price, regardless of his previous fee, then we should have gone for it. to do anything else is acting on emotion, and a bad business decision. That said, I hope we did think Owen was overpriced - although what price 10+ extra prem goals this year...
  17. Still, £54m+ in less than 2 years.... What have we recouped? Baros, Diarra, Owen i can think of. £15-20m max. call it a £30m outlay. Not bad, but could be better. And as Rafa has over-delivered so far I think he's entitled to want the funds to push on.
  18. Mosaic...banner...synchronised swimming...poetry reading...then maybe at some point we can have a sing. I'll be in there at 6.30 so we can fit it all in before kick off.

    Garcia

Garcia's an emotional little so and so, I can imagine him having a little sulk when he doesn't play. Fully expect him to figure against Benfica. No worries about this.

    New Stadium

QUOTE(anny road @ Mar 5 2006, 09:40) yeah yeah....as for Newcastle it really dowsnt matter if you dont win trophies We are competing with united now and they have 20,000 more spectators as it is Sometimes a club can lose it's soul now go and watch the Chelsea second leg from last season and come back and tell me again we should leave that stadium hard to argue with all that. Plus the point made earlier about using some of the money for the stadium to buy players is an interesting one. If investment really isn't forthcoming (and it looks like it isn't from what I'm reading), then surely improving the team is a higher priority for now at least. This would also mean we aren't rushing for investment and potentialy making the wrong decision, but could take a bit longer to choose the right investor. Also, if the current worrying Rafa rumours are true, then more than ever we need to be investing in the team - plus the fact that this is our best opportunity to win the league for years and we need to press on not fall back like we did in summer 2002. There aren't many who've made a success of a ground move in terms of atmosphere, and you could argue that we have more to lose than anyone in that respect (for big games at least ). In a current world of the richest on top and half empty soul-less stadia, maybe Anfield has more value than we think.
  21. really hope it doesn't replace the other large banner. I have to say i'm not a fan as yet. Dunno why, but some of the comments about it being 'Ultra' looking I agree with. But give me a Kop full of flags, scarves etc over a big banner or mosaic any day. how big is it anyway? bigger than the other banner?
  22. Siralex will be free in the summer. He's won the Premiership dontcha know?
  23. he might be out for a while, Colic can be serious Info
  24. Don't know any of those. Don't u mean Morientes' Proclaimers song?? thanks for all the positive comments tho
