With the season we've had and could go on to have, plus the World Cup, Gerrard could play one of the longest seasons ever. This is true of all our World Cup bound players, but Gerrard's game is not only based on more energy than any player (Apart from Sissoko), and he's also by far our most important player. He should be doing what's best for his club (and also his country in the long term), by taking the opportunity to have a rest for a meaningless game. If he's knackered come the CL/FA cup final then his comments about feeling great will look a bit stupid. You can feel great now, but you still have to think about the later effects. It's called 'pacing yourself' FWIW, I hope that him and Carrick play a blinder tonight, and knock Lampard out of the team for the world cup. Would be funny for Fatty to not get a game in Germany! I think that's maybe what Stevie's thinking too, as he's the one who's place is more unsure.

The point that has been missed here is this: SG "I'm fit boss, and full of beans" RB "I'm sure you are Stevie, but with another 20+ games this season I'd rather you have a little rest so you're a bit fresher in May. Now go and have a Horlicks and a lie down" you can be 'match fit' for the next game, but it still makes sense to be rested with the future in mind. Also, Lampard back at Chelsea with an 'injury' pisses me off. He'll be fit for Chelsea's next game no problem. I wish SG would put LFC first in the same way for what is a meaningless friendly.

Totally unrelated of course, but I got this e-mail today: haha, this is funny right, I once bought this pink shirt and a guy from work LAUGHED at me! he kept saying "pinks for girls mate" but i didn?t care as the shirt was really nice and i was happy with it. The other day the same guy went out looking for the same design of shirt (you see they are the best shirts around at the moment) anyway they do it in 4 colours however unfortunately for him the only colour available was pink. I was surprised to see that the next day the very same guy came into work with yes, the pink shirt on. He was showing it off in front of everyone, like it was the best thing he' ever got. It didn't seem so girly any more. Funny isn?t it how when nothing else is available you'll settle for what you can get.

The example in recent memory is Kromkamp coming on at OT, and then getting caught out for their goal. I'm not a fan of late minute changes to protect as result, especially when they alter the defence.

I'd rest Xabi with a view to Benfica, Garcia assuming he's still not fit. Wouldn't risk Kromkamp against Giggs/Placcy as I'm not convinced yet. Reina Finnan Sami Carra Riise Gerrard Didi Momo Kewell Crouch Cisse Bench: Nando, Alonso, Garcia, The Dude, Agger esp as Didi has been playing well. I think all the Spaniards will play against Benfica, so rest them on Sat.
