Our problem is that we don't score enough goals. Solution? Stop caring about clean sheets and start setting up a team that will score goals. Something like this 3-4-3 Reina Carra - Hyypia - Agger Pennant - Gerrard - Alonso - Garcia Kuyt - Crouch - Bellamy Our fullbacks simply aren't good enough in attack. Riise and Finnan aren't players that will run up and down the field all day. They are both great players but simply provide no threat in attack. Pennant has been terrible so far IMO but last night it seemed like he was the only one (except Gerrard) who cared. He got frustrated and should have focused more on how he played but at least he got irritated. We have "easy" games for now so I think we should do this just to score a few goals. Might be a stupid idea but I'm tired of seeing a team put out that is more about keeping a clean sheet rather than scoring more than the other team.

Agreed. As for the original question. For next season we should only buy quality with the exception of backup for Sissoko. What we need is a RB that overlaps the RW from time to time (Alves?), and a creative attacking midfielder of the Aimar/Kaka type (not saying we need to buy one of them but it would be nice wouldn't it? ). And if we do that I think it's time for Benitez to go back to (don't panic just yet) playing the way he set up Valencia. Something like this. Reina Alves - Carra - Agger - Aurelio - - - - Alonso - Sissoko Gerrard - AM - Kewell/Gonzalez - - - - Kuyt - - - - - - Two attacking fullbacks. Yes, they might be s*** at defending but against most teams we should let opposition worry about us and not the other way around. If we have the Alves type in there Gerrard can do what he's been doing all this season - move into the centre. Against "lesser" teams we can rest Sissoko move Gerrard into the middle and put Pennant/Garcia on the right. At least something like this. We have a good squad now. We just need a few more players that can change a game.

I disagree. The big three + Chelsea all gain from playing at home because teams sit back hoping to get a point. These four teams are able to pick attacking sides at home because almost no team actually has a go at them. I want us to play our game, to our strenghts and simply not worry too much about the other team. If we sit back and plan on playing on the counter attack Arsenal can play to their strenght. And when they are able to do that they are amazingly good. By playing Pennant and Gonzalez we prevent their fullbacks from joining the attack and if they still join the attack (which is very likely) both (P&G) have space to work in. Have Alonso doing his thing occupying the space in front of the CB's. If he does that he'll cut out many of the passes Arsenal use for vP and/or Henry forcing them to go wide. By doing that we isolate them because most of their midfielders like to play through the centre. Have Gerrard take on the role Sissoko has had in the team so far. Gerrard should be able to solve that role even better than Sissoko. It's time to stop worrying about the other teams and start doing our thing. It's not until then that we will truly challenge for the title.

I want to see: Pepe Finnan - Carra - Agger - Riise Pennant - Gerrard - Alonso - Gonzales Kuyt - Crouch Lets attack them. They spend all year playing against teams that play either defensively or cautiously against them. They know how to win those matches. Lets go after them in this match like we did against Chelsea and Juventus a while ago. Playing cautiously, with a central defender in midfield, and one up front won't get us anywhere. Let's win this fekking game shall we?

Very true. Most of us here on Iceland are actually hoping the game isn't on the main station (we can choose between games to watch over here) because if it's there we have to listen to the Icelandic commentators. An example: Some team won a corner and the commentator said the following "They win a corner in a dangerous position!"

Alonso sitting in front of Carra and Agger preventing shots from that area (they'll shoot on sight), Sissoko chasing down everything in the middle with Gerrard basically man-marking Makelele.

I would prefer the latter. I don't want him anywhere near the Icelandic midfield. A good tackle in our opinion is a tackle that leaves the attacker disabled after it. Everything else is a "women's" tackle! Agger seems to be taking most of their freekicks. Which is weird because I thought he'd be better in the box.

He's basically just watching the game. That's his involvement so far because our team is so terribly bad.

My idea: 7 subs of which 2 are under 19's. 3 substitutions like usual except you are allowed to switch keeper once during the game without it counting as a substitution.

If there is evidence that he made racist remarks (that is if the terrorist comment is correct) you don't think he should be punished?
