  1. He got no help in front of him which makes a difference. I'm sure he'll get a break when johnson returns
  2. Dan Walker on BBC is saying he's heard rumours of a loan move. Anything in it or is this based on some groundless story in today's papers?

  4. Allen Gerrard Johnson
  5. Rodgers has said he wants his midfielders showing for the ball a lot during the match, which means that Henderson's time here is doomed. Rodgers rightly doesn't want players who are happy to hide, which is Henderson's biggest fault, of which there are many.
  6. Johnson Sterling Shelvey
  7. The extent of the ridicule that Adam is subject to, and love for Henderson, baffles me. Adam wasn't great here, but he put in some great performances. He liked far too much time on the ball and gave it away too often, but at least he tried to impose himself on the pitch and gave his all. Good luck to him, I think he's a great signing for Stoke.
  8. Perhaps Rodgers has seen what a few of us here have seen with Henderson - a sh1thouse afraid to want the ball or do anything with it. On the contrary, I think the moves made over the past 24 hours are extremely positive. Adam, Downing, Carroll, Spearing and Henderson all clearly lack what it takes and Rodgers has been ruthless in chopping the deadwood.
  9. It's not a case of Andy refusing to be hawked around, it's about him being desperate to return to Newcastle. Newcastle are well aware of this and have come in with a lowball offer, having no doubt told Carroll to sit tight and wait for the club to blink first. The club have played this completely correctly, telling Newcastle to do one, and trying to force Carroll to West Ham, by Rodgers making it extremely clear that if he stays, he'll be warming the bench.
  10. Lots of twitter chat that Falcao has agreed to join Chelsea.
  11. You can do a lot of things on the training ground, but either you have a decent first touch, or you don't. I don't think anyone here is saying Carroll is no good, he clearly has certain strengths, but they're going to be massively underused in our team. How many times last season did you see Carroll receive the ball with his back to goal, players bursting past him, only for him to slow the move down by taking too many touches and slowly squaring the ball to a full back? That's not going to cut it in a 4-3-3 system. Kenny clearly didn't rate him that highly either last season. If he did, he would've played more often.
  12. Its absolutely strikingly obvious that Carroll won't work in the system Rodgers wants to play. He's not mobile enough, his touch isn't good enough and his movement isn't good enough. He slows down any counter attacking move we have for these reasons. Carroll would be an absolute beast for west ham or Everton, but not us, or any other side which wants to play a quick passing game
  13. Khedeira and Alonso is pretty fierce competition. I read somewhere that sahin's physical condition isn't as good as the others. Anyone watch much German football? I don't, and haven't seen sahin play, but it would surely be an excellent signing if we could get the 2011 bundesliga player of the year? By signing him and Allen, Rodgers has clearly focussed on the right area for improvement from last season, being central midfield. The less we see of Adam, spearing and Henderson, the better

    Borini

I can't remember where I read it now, but Michael Cox, who does the zonalmarking website, wrote an article about Borini, in which he said he was a fantastic signing who will work very well in BR's system
  15. I'm sure I read somewhere that Stoke had agreed to buy Lucas when Hodgson was in charge but that Lucas refused to leave.

  18. couldn't agree more. we are talking about our best player. A side going places doesn't sell its best player. Suarez is going to be amazing this season, it would be madness to sell him.
  19. agree with this. for all the talk of systems etc, it's clear that Rodgers wants the players to play a passing game, you'll hear no complaints from me in that regard. I don't think it's a bad thing to have preferred formation too. there were many unfair criticisms levelled at Kenny last season, but one which I agree with was that there was a lack of structure with the team's approach. for all the talk about selling Carroll when his market price is low, if Rodgers only sees him as a player to bring off the bench, surely now is the time to sell? I think it's a cause for optimism that Rodgers is so decisive and comparisons to Finnan/Rafa are well wide of the mark. As Wilson says, Carroll has many strengths, but if Rodgers is intent on playing a high pressing and quick passing game, then Carroll has no place here. anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves.
  20. he was brilliant until Christmas, then suffered a long dip in form. we won't have any worries about him this season. when everyone is fit, we have the best back 5 in the league
  21. It goes without saying really, but if the side plays the way Rogers had Swansea playing, Suarez is going to be absolutely amazing this season.
  22. From someone I work with who knows Sturridge's agent - both Liverpool and Spurs are talking to Sturridge.

  24. How can anyone here seriously want Sturridge? He's clearly an absolute t***, notwithstanding that he's a decent player, but nowhere near as good as he thinks he is. Chelsea fans can't stand him as he's so greedy. I bet the people here who want him are the same people who'd want that s***house mourinho in charge.
  25. I know its only one game, but I saw him play for bolton against Fulham at craven cottage last season. Fulham won easily in the end, but Davies was easily the best player on the pitch.
