    Stating the obvious but it really struck me on Sunday how brilliant Anfield is. The job they’ve done with the new stand, and the pathways outside. It’s massive but still feels compact: Been to spurs’ stadium with fancy tickets and it’s ridiculously plush, but doesn’t come close to what Anfield is. Thank Christ the club never moved.

My mate who was with me has been through a separation, wife had an affair, been brutal with custody of the kids etc so similar to Stanley, it was lovely to share it with someone who’s had a tough time. He was wearing red, though, the c***. And yeah I tore myself away from the bar to get that train. Was contemplating a later coach but decided to be sensible.
