bit late for what? Thanking Dalglish and chanting his name? eh... tbh... not sure if you're seeking to turn this into a 'who-supported-Kenny-the-most' thing or not, but if you are then you can take a run and jump. I'm not here to debate who's the most loyal or disloyal fan with anyone, or even to comment about what I think about FSG for that matter... I'm posting because this day a legend is no longer the manager of this beloved football club and I want to say thank you. Anyone who wants to start any other agenda can start their own thread or get on the other one. Just to repeat Thank you Kenny Dalglish

Deserves its own space, away from debates over individuals who, albeit decent human beings, are not in the same category of my affection as one Kenny Dalglish. Deserves to be thanked for the joy he gave me as a player. For really making the #7 special. For winning goals in European cup finals and on the last day of the season at Stamford Bridge. For winning the double and producing one of the most exciting teams in the whole of history. For my glee for the man when he lost at Anfield and yet still won the league. for the way he never, ever, ever, never, bad mouthed this club, its staff or players ever in the media. For wanting to put smiles on people's faces. For making me as excited as a 10 year old when I heard he was our manager again. For adding another trophy to his legend. For being, quite simply, the greatest player in our history. For being up there with Shanks in terms of his identity with who we are. For being... Kenny Dalglish Thank you

on the beeb too... on a freaking England squad news day... I truly hope they are not cynically trying to bury bad news and have waited for this moment. I also truly hope they have a clue about our future. right now, I have no reason to hope for either. I simply hope to be proved wrong

I honestly don't get what they're gonna do next. Their strategy is team, with a DOF overseeing the manager, who doesn't get all the power to himself... yet they have no CEO and no DOF, so to get rid of a manager is a total gamble unless they have these other pieces in place BEFORE they appoint. Otherwise they make a managerial appointment into which the oversight roles must be wedded, rather than the other way around... and, let it be said as I just catch myself on, thank you Kenneth Dalglish. You are, you have been, you will always be a legend of Liverpool Football Club. If you leave this day then I am gutted because it is you. I just hope I am not even more gutted for the impact on LFC. I hope our future lives up to your glory...

have been away for most of the day so apologies if this has already been covered.. can't help but think the owners have really got themselves into a mess here. They seem to perhaps not have the coach they would prefer, but do not have the structure above him to appoint someone of their preference into the structure that they approve. The idea that somehow they have been clearing out staff to make way for a head coach who is going to bring his own team with him seems to be the very opposite of what they spoke about in terms of risk management... The have a MD in Ayre but failed to really get a CEO to oversee all the operations of the club, including strategy, appointing someone to handle commerce, PR and so on... They appointed a DOF in Comolli who would then be the chief individual in establishing the footballing philosophy of the whole club, including decisions on the coach of the first team..The theory is that if the strategy is right then this minimises the turbulence caused by appointing a new manager who then changes everything. The manager rather comes in as a part of the whole philosophy of the club. Yet what they have realised is that this simply moves the risk up a level, and potentially away from the one person in the club who really knows a thing or two about football (ie the manager!). If the DOF gets it wrong or is the wrong person then more than just the 90 minutes on a pitch by the first team gets affected. And it seems they appointed the wrong guy...(at least they have made that judgment) Let's be honest, they appointed Kenny in haste because at that time, for a holding period, he was the right appointment. Yet they were buying time to establish the DOF and to find a CEO. The first has fallen and the latter never came. In the middle of this they formalised the appointment of one of the most important and powerful figures in Liverpool's history. If they are having doubts now, their biggest problem is that any decision they make will run contrary to their philosophy of how such decisions should get made. They have no CEO determining overall direction. They have no DOF to establish footballing strategy and, together with the CEO, identifying the best and most suitable manager for the first team. They do not have the people on the ground to make the decisions they know need made. And they do not want to appoint a first team manager who these individuals then have to work with! To add insult to their injury they know they have to invest further in the playing staff otherwise their Champions league dependent investment strategy is not going to pay off, but are not committed to the current manager making the decisions about who the money should be spent on... which leaves us in a real dilemma, a stalemate, which is no good for them or for us. Until such time as they sort out the oversight and infrastructure of this club they are almost trapped into supporting Kenny! Some big decisions to be made on their part that will affect us all and we need them to make the right ones!

In the interests of fuelling more mindless fictional rumours on the grounds of nothing more than pure speculation...if you were a pair of media savvy yanks what possible benefit do you think could be gained by announcing kennys departure on the day Woy announces his England squad for 2012....
-
Genuinely doubt it. These guys aren't in the same position as H & G. Any decision now can be justified on league results and guff about strategic plan, thx yadayada to Kenny for stabilising ship, winning cup, being a legend etc etc

Cheer up lads... How can we xpect good ol FSG to come in and get to grips with the game in 18 months when 'the FA', those custodians of the game, have just appointed Woy and Ratboy as the dreamteam for the national team :-)

just when my F5 button thought it had earned a reprieve after the days of H&G (spit), Grabiner (hooray), Hodgson (meh), LBOs (what ), Nando along comes today... tis hard to take that's all so, in a noble effort to ensure change I shall resort to the last tactic of the internet terrorist... when we needed them gone, G&H and Hodgson, this wookie withheld the posting of his signature name and, I like to think, the gesture played a contributory role in their demise... to set the ball rolling in reverse there shall be no more signing off in the name of Chewie till Champions league football and a clear decision made on the new stadium... once established Chewie shall return for a while, until such times as a repeat gesture is required to bring home number 19... I think that in the midst of a day of great storm this is a small but yet noble golden sky, and soon there will, yes there will, be the song of the lark.. walk on, for the last time till our dreams are no longer tossed and blown, I sign off... The weird thing is that for all the question marks over the following I really doubt that adam, downing and Henderson have offered any better than aquilani, mereiles and cole (yes, even him) would have. Even more surprising is that they also have managed to squeeze out kuyt and maxi. There's just something surreal about it. Fwiw I think adam is value for money given the outlay, and am a firm believer that henderson will be like lucas in terms of proving his worth, but unfortunately for him he has no xabi and masch to hide behind but has been over played. Downing i have never fathomed, especially given his age and price tag... Chewie Swipe, i think he might stand down ...

Please Kenny

Maxi or Dirk now please...

It's like harry n Lloyd down the left...dumb n flamin dumber

Agger the only one who looks at it...Stevie trying but dying in the malaise around him...

Chelsea...better shape without the ball, more threatening with it...Andy Townsend can see it...its that obvious.

You're prob right but in each area of the pitch I reckon we can identify players we must keep, those we should have in the squad, and those who we would not cry over if they left... so, here's my stab at it... Keep: Reina Squad: Doni Keep: Glen, Agger, Skrtl Squad: Enrique, Kelly, Coates, No tears over: Carra, Aurelio, Kids for one more season: Flanagan, Robinson Keep: Lucas, Gerrard Squad: Henderson No tears over: Adam, Spearing, Downing, Kuyt, Maxi (with varying degrees of best wishes, especially Dirk) Keep Suarez Keep / Squad: Carroll, Bellamy No tears over... frightening that there is no-one else.... That's 7 players we should deffo keep (Carroll somewhere between keep and squad) and around 6 squad players... A pool of 14 players with at least 4 signings needed in the first 11 category, and probably 6 this transition in itself will mean another very difficult year Who gets to make these changes is quite some other matter...I hoped Comolli would be the one to compensate for my presumption that Kenny perhaps does not have the sort of networks and insights into players across the global game (a presumption I have no grounding in fact for...). Turns out he wasn't doing much of a job...so, is it over to Kenny (every part of my being wants to cry yes, but.... Chewie

I do... I'm fed up getting to the end of each season caring more about how the scum do than how we do... I'm fed up seeing us behave like the mid-table team we look like we have become - raising our game for the odd big game and showing our true colours against mediocre I'm fed up that our goal difference with two games to go is +5... I'm fed up knowing more about LBOs, high court decisions, moneyball, false american dawns, the cross cultural linguistic understandings of the word negrito than I do about league challenges I'm fed up watching a legend oversee this and knowing that he, and we, have under-performed I'm fed up seeing us scheduled as the after thought on match of the day I'm fed up because just recently we had the best midfield in the world, feared no-one and were feared by all... I'm fed up that in our third last game of the season people think it is ok to say 'who cares...' so yeah, count me in as one who gives a proverbial at tonight's result, and count me in as one who is more worried because it is difficult to see how we get to the other side of this anytime soon... I like Shelvey and I like Henderson ...for differing reasons. I think Shelvey has energy, confidence and a desire to make things happen. I think Henderson has good, quick feet, finds a man easily, gives and goes very well and, now that he has 12 months under his belt will grow as his mentality grows. (fwiw I always really hoped Lucas would come good and kinda stuck up for him at times in spite of the evidence... with Henderson I reckon he's had a better first 9 months than Lucas and will grow into a very decent player for us...) I reckon the two players can bring different things to LFC and we should allow them to develop and grow for the next few seasons (along with adding some more quality into the park... but for instance, a midfield three of Lucas holding, Henderson passing and Shelvey pressing would I think be a very productive unit.. we have trusted Henderson in particular this year and now are starting to trust Shelvey and I reckon that in seasons to come we will really benefit... as for cup final... mmm I reckon that with the experience of Chelsea's midfield and in the absence of Lucas Kenny is gonna ask Stevie to do one of those ultra disciplined jobs in the middle of the park that he occasionally is capable of when he really focuses (few clashed with United where he has done this...) I also think he's gonna have to keep an eye on Cole down the left so we could well see Kuyt employed (but he has seemingly been out of favour though for this task alone I think he should be recalled. It'll not happen but I'd wonder about... ...................Reina Glen.... Skrtl... Agger.....Enrique .......Gerrard....Henderson.... ............Shelvey....... ......Kuyt.......................Suarez ..................Carroll.............. you could of course swap Shelvey and Gerrard, but where that to happen I can't help but think one of Henderson or Shelvey would give way to Jay... anyway... what the heck do I know anyway, back to fixing falcons (millenium ones that is ;-) Chewie
