  1. Actually.. Just found the report by Craig hope covering this. That's gone completely under the radar.. They have him on a 3 year contract but the manager says they are not in a position to enforce it. Don't think I've ever heard any manager say that.
  2. Where's this quote from? That's quite a remarkable statement if he actually made it
  3. Of course this did happen and right up to John Terry stepped up to take what would have been the winning penalty I thought I knew what I wanted, but.... At that moment I didn't care
  4. Nunez will always prompt a rueful smile. The lad came in, could be a blur of energy, occupy defenders, track back, and (to repeat) was absolutely on fire for a period during his second season. He just could not master offside or finish when he should have. If 50% of those had went in he'd be worth double what we sold him for. He also bagged those 2 goals at Newcastle when we were down to 10 men that meant I almost had no voice the next day for the daughters wedding! So thanks Darwin.. You were daft but you left with a league medal in the bag
  5. Well you have to give him that!
  6. That's a wrong turn in the direction of later, not now
  7. Brendan was a client of yours!!?? (did you fix his teeth..or do the portrait.... the plot thickens)
  8. I think the Geuhi stuff gets done after the Community Shield and there's a basic agreement not to be seen as unsettling Palace, adding unnecessary needle, to the day. Palace are going to take money for the player this window, rather than see his value drop considerably in Jan or go on a free next summer
  9. We're up all night to get Isak
  10. the Community Shield debut was electric, especially given Haaland's performance on the same day... O how we laughed... and then we... stopped laughing but he was a moments player - some amazing, many frustrating, and there was one period of about 9 weeks (maybe in the second season, or first - can't remember) when he seemed almost unplayable. Just never had the consistency under either boss
  11. He is having a blast
  12. It can only ever be about that.. anything else is a projection of self onto a player, and it is impossible for any player (or human) to live up to, or live out, the persective, values, ethics, politics etc etc etc of every single fan. We'll all find lots to love and not love about every single one of these players (and no doubt every single one of us ) Are they honest, work hard, treat everyone with respect and as they'd want to be treated, and give everything on and off the pitch for the club? If so, all good. Almost everything after that is personal semantics and they'll either be the best or worst in the world when they fall in or out of personal and projected views and opinions, almost all of which is probably unfair
  13. Big, bigger, then biggier than big or bigger
  14. Set piece goals against could become a thing
  15. 3rd goalie is a great gig at Liverpool isn't it. You work with the best players day in and day out. You're a valuable member of the goalie setup which is vital for the team. You get some great trips. Your role is crystal clear. Your job is to help the goalies be great, and to help practice be great, and so you totally earn whatever medals come your way without being conflicted by any injustice that you didn't play. And cos you're in a dressing room you probably become mates with some of the world's best players... Freddie woodman must have one of the world's best jobs
  16. Ben Doak.... Loan and keep or sell???
  17. Must be a game today as there's a weather warning
  18. Congrats Dom..
  19. Theres no news here but think it's a fair summary
  20. Every silver lining eh...
  21. Aye... Got ahead of myself ... He turns 26 next month though, which means if he signs for anyone next year he's 27 in year one and 28 in year two..
  22. Who the heck are the Dallas Stars
  23. I'm content with how we're playing this. I want us to get Isak and think we will, but we've basically put cold hard cash on the table. Newcastle have a player that doesn't want to be there and north of 100million in front of them to go get other players. They're in a mess but they'll know that we're now engaging formally and seriously. The idea that they are surprised this is 10 million below the informal mooted bid simply suggests there is wiggle room. I think this is just part of the game and given the sums involved, and the way we like to operate, this won't be happening publicly without a lot of engagement privately. We don't want to look like the club that simply pays whatever a seller wants, and they don't want to look like they've undersold their player. Whatever is stated or briefed 110 million is the guide. It will go higher but it won't go 30-40 million higher. I reckon both clubs are now setting and managing expectations. Their fans will want more than 110 and they'll get it, rather than more than a first formal bid of 130. Reckon this goes through in time. With 2 years on a contract and at the age of 27 turning 28 the lad is worth 80 next year. Common sense and business sense gets this done.
  24. Maybe he should update his profile with a pair of burning crocodile shoes
