I do, DH. A mate of mine who is a WHU season ticket holder was gutted when they lost Defoe, much more gutted than when either Lampard or Cole or, going back, Ince left the Hammers. He is undoubtedly a good player who has lost his way. And we have a manager who is proven at getting "more" out of hungry players. Defoe has something to prove. Why not do it with us?

Best reason EVER not to watch a team.... As for Defoe - At £8m/£9m I'd take him, anything less and we'll have gotten a bargain. I could be wrong, but didn't he score for Spurs on Cisse's Leage debut for us (if you know what I mean), and he scored a similar goal in Spurs last league game against WHU. Thing is, he's quick and he CAN put the ball away when he's consistently on his game. Is he quicker than all our current strikers? (Bar Cisse, yes). Is he a more clinical finisher? (Bar Fowler, yes). Is he willing to learn? (undoubtedly, like Crouch). Does he have the intelligence to be able to learn? (time will tell, but if you look at all the players that Rafa and his coaches have improved, you could say he has a fair chance). The final question is - Would he improve our squad, and again, I think the answer to this is Yes - but only at £9m tops.

True enough Stevie, and those individual awards shouldn't be unappreciated, but his erstwhile teammates and especially his replacement went on to much greater glory together... Hell, Kevin and Josemi have the same number of European Cup Winners medals. Neal, Kenny, Hansen achieved much more by staying. Hopefully for all of US, the players who stayed after Mike left will have much more success too.
