Yes. He loves a hot take and regularly goes in two-footed on a topic. I think this in part down to his standing in the pundit pantheon. He occupies a strange space there, of a fella who can articulate an opinion but doesn't have the career behind him for anyone to take it seriously. He is massively wool too and I say this as a massive wool myself.

I agree with Paul that his tactical analysis was/is very good, but he’s become a professional hot take machine and the way he made the Salah stuff about him was embarrassing, I thought. His and Neville’s takeover of football discourse absolutely does my head in, though at least Neville shows a bit of loyalty to his former employers.

Even if all that was the case (and I'm not saying it isn't) we still could have forced the issue earlier. No one came out of that episode well and it did take the shine off what we all thought at the time was a great window.
