Souness was a fantastic player, and the best midfielder I can remember from my younger years. Certainly the best defensive midfielder in LFC history. I can remember quite a few people that thought Souness was just as important as Kenny. FWIW, Kenny still wins the All-Time-Greatest for me.

I disagree. The managers job is to win the match, and hopefully trophies. Managers do that by analyzing the opponent, telling the players what they have to do to meet the expectations, and hand out clear instructions. Smaller teams need to develop players. Players at LFC have to prove themselves every match, every training. If they dont, they are out the door next summer. IMO of course, but I believe this to be the truth. Perhaps more so with Rafa Benitez than any other top manager in England.

Does it matter? If he isnt motivated playing for Liverpool I dont want him anywhere near the first team. If he plays well, he'll play more. He has all the talent he needs, its time to show he knows what to do with it.

Lucas can be a bit sloppy, but I thought he had another good game. Especially when Arsenal/Fabregas tried to control the midfield he was everywhere.

Its what is expected, however it almost never works. We would need someone like Duncan Ferguson, Dion Dublin or Huth(!) to make something out of Samis hoofs towards the end. Not that I mind the long ball, but most of the time its pretty easy to defend against.

I wanted to bring Keane on for Kuyt early on, but the subs made sense to me. Lucas for Masch too. Why do we need two CM's against Hull at home? To win the ball back higher up the pitch. The alternative is to let Hull walk through our midfield and subsequently give Sami the chance to play the high killer ball to our majestic forward line (El Zhar, Keane/Kuyt, Babel) I certainly don't think Keane didn't play because Rafa wanted to send a message. No matter how many times the cameras were zooming in on Robbie on the bench.
